Drinan Wins Cap, Judge Unused Sub
Tuesday, 15th Oct 2019 21:51

Aaron Drinan won his sixth Republic of Ireland U21s cap as they lost 1-0 to Iceland in Reykjavik, while Alan Judge was an unused sub as the senior Irish side were beaten 2-0 in a Euro 2020 qualifier in Switzerland.

Drinan, who is currently on loan with Swedish second division side GAIS, came on as an 86th minute sub in the European Championships qualifier.

The 21-year-old has made five starts and one sub appearance without scoring since joining Gothenburg-based GAIS in August.

Judge, 30, will return to Portman Road having been involved in neither of Ireland’s matches during the international break.

Tonight’s defeat was Ireland’s first since former boss Mick McCarthy returned to his old job in November last year.

Ireland's hopes of automatically qualifying for Euro 2020 now rest on next month's home game with Denmark.

Same old Ireland...come the bigger nations they're found wanting, they can't score goals and with big Mick at the helm things aren't going to change anytime soon.
