Town and Coventry Charged By FA

Town and Coventry have been charged by the FA with failing to “ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion” during an incident in the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 League One draw at St Andrew’s.

An FA statement reads: “Coventry City FC and Ipswich Town FC have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following their EFL League One game on Saturday 7th December 2019.

“It is alleged that they failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 57th minute.”

The charge relates to a clash between Gwion Edwards and Sam McCallum close to the dugouts, which led to both sets of players, including keepers and some subs, becoming involved in a melee.

Edwards and Sky Blues sub Gervane Kastaneer, who was warming up at the time, were yellow-carded by referee Darren Drysdale.

The FA say the two clubs have until Friday 13th December to respond to the charge.

Cakeman added 15:20 - Dec 11 It's a pity the F.A. Didn't spend time on eradicating the growing number of incompetent officials rather than waste time on sorting out incidents such as this which will happen from time to time in a physical game.

Steve_ITFC_Sweden added 05:17 - Dec 12 Na, na, na, they started it! Actually, I think the ”victim” sometimes gets wrongly blamed in these situations (speaking generally now). The ref almost always ends uo booking both parties, when all the victim has done is stand his ground or even tried to extricate himself. Others get involved unnecessarily, and the whole thing kicks off.

Pilgrimblue added 11:47 - Dec 12 I don't see that FA had much choice in these situations. Ok there's an incident that involves just the two players but why do the rest of the players (and subs!!) get involved. It should be left to the ref and captains and then there wouldn't be any need for FA to get involved.
