Town Announce 2020/21 Squad Numbers
Monday, 13th Jul 2020 10:49

Town have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2020/21 campaign with centre-half Luke Woolfenden handed the number six shirt.

Only two players have switched numbers from 2019/20, Woolfenden, who established himself as a regular last season, and Janoi Donacien who moves from two to 12 having been a fringe player during the last campaign.

Numbers two and three - the latter worn by loanee Josh Earl last season - currently remain vacant with the Blues yet to make any senior additions this summer.

Those still at the club that were handed squad numbers at the start of last season but are left off the list this summer are Aaron Drinan (25), Adam Przybek (31), Corrie Ndaba (32), Ben Folami (34), Ben Morris (35), Barry Cotter (37) and Bailey Clements (46).

Youngsters still with Town who were given numbers over the course of last season also not handed shirts at this stage are Tommy Hughes (40), Brett McGavin (42), Tyreece Simpson (47), Kai Brown (49), Liam Gibbs (50), Tawanda Chiwera (51) and Tommy Smith (53). There are also no numbers for January signing Levi Andoh and Ross Crane, the young winger who recently joined from Bury Town.

The start date for the new season remains unconfirmed, however, September 12th is currently looking likely.

Meanwhile, the EFL have announced their name and number designs for the new season. The EFL are continuing their support for the mental health charity Mind with their ‘squiggle’ and logo once again on the back of all EFL shirts.

As part of the launch, the EFL and Mind have asked supporters to share stories relating to the names and numbers they wear on their shirts on a matchday using the #haveyourmatesback hashtag on social media.

That is a cracking squad. Save chipping some dead wood away, chambers, toto, we should walk the League!!!

Can you spot the error in the sentence?

Interesting there is no number for Adam Pryzbek, but there is for Harry Wright. That would assume there is to be another keeper being signed !!!

I could understand Janoi D losing the #2 shirt if KVY had been taking it, as he is clearly going to be our first choice right back (RWB) next season, which suggests that somebody else must be lined up already, to come in as a probable first team starter & who wants the shirt?

Don't know about anyone else but I think those new FL shirt numbers look pretty naff.

Some decent players in the squad, but there are 6 who aren't good enough. Some signings are needed.

Two new wing backs? Yes please. And a centre half.

Centre backs most important position in team. Chambers is better than many think, but we are in need of one ‘Sharpish’

I think the reasoning behind not giving some fringe and young players a squad number is that they need to earn one.

Why Kane Vincent Young 24 is that his own preference or ?

If Squad sizes are restricted this would seem to be the limit of our playing squad for next season! I am always optimistic but this might be another cause of sleepless nights!

I’d forgotten we still had Toto as I’d mentally thought he’d gone to Bolton for good or was that just wishful thinking?!

Will be interesting to see how KVY and Nydam do this season as they have much promise.

No explanation for why those youngsters listed don’t have squad numbers this year.

So, little Wycombe Wanderers, captained by Felixstowe born Matt Bloomfield and propped up by the likes of 38 year old Akinfenwa are playing Championship football next season, sigh.......

Why hasn't Tommy Smith been given a squad number when he his easily the best left back in the team

Saw Tommy Smith on loan at bury town last season he was class. He'll be off if he doesn't get first team appearances

Monkey Blue. Do you think all the players given a number have earned one. Understand where your coming from though. Lots of the young lads will get numbers I'm sure. Surly promotion this season 🤞.
I say give more youngsters a chance they cant do any worse than some of our squad.
The worst talent I hear is experienced players. That's not talent that's just experience which last season shows counts for nothing. Let's play the more technically talented Kids and get out of League 1.

Hampstead, I spotted the error in your statement, "That is a cracking squad" seems to be the error. Am I correct?
