Dundee United Still Interested in Norwood - Report
Monday, 17th Aug 2020 22:08

Dundee United are reportedly continuing their pursuit of Blues striker James Norwood.

The Terrors, who are managed by the frontman’s former Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon, showed interest in the 29-year-old earlier this month and, according to the Dundee Courier, are still working on a loan deal for Norwood.

It would be a surprise if the Blues were interested in allowing Norwood to move on this summer, while the Scottish Premiership side would presumably struggle to cover his Portman Road wages.

Additionally, given the constraints of the League One salary cap, if Norwood were to move on Town would find it difficult to bring in another striker of a similar standard.

Norwood joined the Blues last summer on a free transfer from Tranmere and went on to score 11 times in what was an injury-hampered 2019/20 campaign.

Dundee United are also understood to have shown interest in Town central defender Toto Nsiala.

Nope! Need norwood here for sure. Unless his head isnt in it which I hope is not the case. Nsiala on the other hand though I would let go to be fair, just feel nervous with him at the back.

Unless we've got a direct replacement lined up I can't see this happening.
Having said that it's highly unlikely we would find someone to score 15/20 goals a season on 1500 quid a week. Even Danny Graham who's hardly prolific would demand a lot more than that.

He is staying, Sears, Norwood, Jackson and Oli are a quality set of strikers. Need that firepower to have any chance at top 6.

We haven't begun to see the best of Norwood yet, injuries blighted his performances last season.
Dundee Utd can go do one!!

If Norwood is fit and firing I would expect 20 goals from him this season. He is also likely to benefit from playing off Hawkins so I do not see a move to Dundee happening.
With respect to Nsiala it is a different kettle of fish. If/when he goes wages are going to be freed up to bring in a hopefully left side cb to partner Woolfie .........

Norwood owes us.

He got his car and his hair and some more dogs and then got injuries.

Payback time!

Ungortunately, Norwood isn't fit according to EADT. Not ready for the pre-season. Hope that doesn't affect things too much long term, as I feel he could still do a job for us. But if the management see him as a sick note, they might just want to cut their losses.

Injuries/ medical aside, I think his head wasn't fully in the game last season, and a bit of fame and stepping up and all the trimmings that come with it distracted him too much. Hope he's learnt from it, feeling a bit guilty and the novelty has worn off and reality of expectation and not achieving his personal goals have set in. Did a bang on job when he was focused though and all credit to him.
A newly focused and enjoying his football Norwood will be like a top class new signing and a season changer.
Over to you, James. Looking forward to a new and improved Norwood.

If Town let Norwood go under the current financial constraints then we really have lost the plot .

I'm interested in Michele Keegan, doesn't mean she'll shag me

Fit enough to play golf and break into houses, but not to train with the club that pays his wages. Hmmmmmmm....

I'd certainly give Norwood another shot. If we can get him fully fit and a midfielder who actually tries to pass a ball forwards to him then we might stand a chance. Dundee is only a 6 hours drive from my house so I'd happily drive Toto there.

I wouldn't of thought Norwood would want to step down a level.🤥

Still not fit sounds alarm bells for me . Don't really think he's focused on playing for the club as my old dad would say a bit of a clown. He's not fit so who's going to buy him looks like we're stuck with him. Another season of injuries and antics off the pitch.

Oh no we can sell Norwood I honestly think injury free & he will be the man this season👍
Nsiala on the other hand has to play for his place again, hope he can prove some of the doubters wrong!

Norwood is as good as gone. Hawkins was his replacement. Should be fine with town fans, don't grumble!

I would hope we would give him at least one more season to see if he can deliver the goods.  Not sure if there are some issues behind the scenes that need resolving but hopefully any such matters can be sorted and we get to see the best of Norwood next season.  I was expecting more last season but he did have ongoing injury niggles / problems with his groin so he probably wasn't ever 100%.

I would love to keep Norwood because I do think he is a good striker at this level. The problem with nors is he is a difficult player to manage, he messes about too much, he does his own thing And managers in the past put up with that because he's scoring goals. But that upsets other players and I'm not sure this group of players are fully behind him

I am sure once our medical team get him fully fit (stop laughing at the back) we will see the best of him
