Salford After Lankester on Loan
Monday, 1st Feb 2021 13:26

TWTD understands League Two Salford City want to sign Blues forward Jack Lankester on loan for the remainder of the season before tonight's deadline.

Lankester, 21, has slipped away from the first team picture in recent weeks as players have come back from injury and new additions Josh Harrop and Luke Thomas have been recruited on loan.

The Bury St Edmunds-based wideman or number 10 was on the bench at Crewe on Saturday but last started the 2-0 ome defeat to Portsmouth in mid-December.

Lankester has made seven starts and seven appearances for Town this season, scoring twice, having returned after missing the previous 20 months following two back operations.

In total, Lankester, who is contracted to Town until the summer of 2022 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 12 starts and 14 sub appearances for the Blues and has scored three times.

Agreed, Woolfenden developed under Richie Wellens' guidance when he was at Swindon.

What I've seen of him not good enough under Lambert, with the s––the plays cannot see any of our youngsters progressing good move is Scholes still in charge there, what a learning curve for him

Makes sense, well down the pecking order and needs some game time after his terrible injuries.

Good move for him to probably get playing time and experience different management ; our man has no semblance of altruism or courage ,preferring always the cautious over protective excuse not to blood youngsters early !
Look back at his frequent diatribes , compare with Premier and Champ sides who find a way !
We've an Academy the envy of many ( as it has been for years) so is there a real gulf of opinion and a clash of understanding and objectives ?
Best of luck !

Not so sure as some on here he is quite up to it at the moment (I really liked what I saw from him before his injury), a loan deal could be a good idea.

I think this is just what Jack needs. He is a real talent but hasn't reached the required standard since his return from his horrendous injuries. He needs game time to get back up to speed and this will provide him with that, together with the opportunity to work with Scholes who could play a bit. Lankester is the future for sure. Lambert doesn't trust the young players, preferring to play Chambers and Judge .

Great move.... Salford will be above us in about 2 years anyway..should be seen as a step up

He hasn't really been able to get into games when he has played this year but then has anybody ? A loan is probably the right thing assuming we don't get any more injuries and stupid red cards.

It's a good move for him if he gets game time there which is not guaranteed as we found out with El Mizouni. It about time our youngsters start living up to the hype given to them on here. Good to see Donasien doing well at Fleetwood .

Scored 2 goals even though he has been played out of position, which is better than most of the other pretenders that have been playing,

Not sure on this one to be honest.(should it happen). On one hand, would be a good move for him, to get games, but on the other hand, if we were to pick up a couple more injuries, would have liked to have thought he could come in and do a job for us.

He's our top scoring attacker this season. Shambert could try playing him, just a thought.

Just play him. He cant be any worse than Drinan, Hawkins and Jackson. My 12 year old daughter could score more goals than that lot....

I heard he is quite a social lad, so playing up front for our lot ,he is bound to feel lonely.

Well we have no full back cover so send Donacian on loan....we have no centre back cover and send Ndaba on loan and now we could be sending one of our best youngsters on loan and then develop players for other team's?
Does this fit in with our 5 Year Plan??
We are becoming a laughing stock :(

Why? Anyone? Who are these players who are better than Jack? Anyone seen them?

Could be a good opportunity for him to get some serious game time and come back better player next season..... for those that keep referring to Paul Scholes, Richie Wellens is the Salford City Manager !

The thing that is being increasingly highlighted to me is we keep loaning out to clubs our supposedly good young academy players, only to bring 8n other cl7bs young players ( often of the same age ), for their development etc etc and to strengthen us supposedly. So what does this REALLY say about the standard of our youngsters , that the6 are deemed not good enough for the team at division three level ??
