Bishop's Lincoln Move Confirmed
Tuesday, 27th Jul 2021 13:04

Midfielder Teddy Bishop’s move to Lincoln City has been confirmed.

The 25-year-old, who has signed a long-term deal, told the Imps official site: “You only have to look at last season to see the club is going places and I want to be a part of that.

“I've had good chats with the manager and heard the fans make LNER Stadium a rocking venue.”

He added: “It's been a bit of a disjointed pre-season so I need to get that fitness up to scratch over the next few weeks. I can't wait to get going.

“I'm a creative midfielder, I like to drive with the ball and take people on - hopefully I'll excite the fans.”

Bishop had been expected to join the MK Dons with that proposed switch having dragged on for more than a month, but travelled to Sincil Bank for talks and a medical last week.

As reported early in the summer, Bishop’s hometown club Cambridge United showed interest, while Portsmouth and Hearts were more recently linked, although the claims regarding the Scottish Premiership side were subsequently dismissed.

Bishop had been training with the Town U23s this summer having been told he can move on. He played what was his final game in a Town shirt at Bury Town earlier in the month.

In total, Bishop, who joined the academy aged eight, made 81 starts and 51 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring five times.

Wish him all the very best. Probably the right time for a change for him to revive himself in a different environment. If he stays fit and shows consistency in his form, then Appleton has made a very decent signing for Lincoln City.

At the age of 25 despite injuries he should have made more of an impact. He's impressed with Lincoln, God he must be in total shock with what's happening at PR. No place for him however. Probably not for lack of ability but attitude as per comments by Skip73, barmy & dawoolah. I've also seen him out & about & thought "You jumped up little prxck"

Good luck Teddy. An injury ravaged career has left this talented but fragile player searching for a level of play that he was oh so capable of but very rarely showed. Sad to see him go as he was my favourite of the younger crop. It's funny to think that I'd not be too worried about coming up against him in an opposition line up though. Wishing him success....but not at our expense!

I'm a bit sad. He was a real prospect when young but injury has robbed him of so much.

It's best he moves on for all concerned. I wish him well.

Good luck to him, injury has dogged his carreer so far, certainly has the potential, but i fear Bish is just one of those players that unfortunately wont reach the top with fitness remaining a problem. Never the less ,good luck.

Where there's talent ,and skill ,linked to one Club for a long long time it's always the greatest disappointment to see A) The talent fail to blossom fully,B) Realise that possibly the Club may have failed - the player and the team AND C ) to know development and potential have not been helped by near abysmal Management top down !
ITFC deserves to be better served by the Management ,and let us all hope PC will instil more discipline and commitment both on and off the field .
Meantime every good wish to TB in resurrecting his career ,proving to himself what a good professional footballer he might be and enjoying the experience !

Good lucky Teddy!
I'm personally really sorry that Teddy is off as I feel that he still has a lot to offer but I wish him well and if he can stay injure free then I'm sure he can still go o to bigger and better things.
That said, the team seems to be taking shape now and I trust the management regarding personnel needed for the new regime to work.

A little gutted actually, always like him as a grafter not afraid to put the tackles in and do some of the dirty work around the park.

All the best for the future Teddy, please dont come back and bite us in the arse in the league.

Really liked Bishop so I'm sad to see him leaving. The numerous injuries really stunted his development and opportunities with us so maybe a fresh move might help him. Also, what was the transfer fee? Any idea?

My favourite player has gone...my saddest day of the summer (maybe bar England 'fans' reaction to England just missing out in the Euros Final). I'm gonna have to take some trips to Lincoln to get my fix every once in a while. I know it's irrational, but I love the lad!

Hoping for a great season from all our new signings, but will go to my grave not believe selling Bishop is a good idea.

A couple of trips to therapy should see me through.

It's a loan move, if it does well enough we have options

It's a shame as I like him, but sadly his injury record is very very poor. Good luck to him though.

Sad to see him go and sad to see the way he was treated at the end especially given the way for example Nolan was treated despite also being injury prone and possessing less talent.... The fact Nolan was never with the so called exiles is a mystery

Good player with real promise but had so many injuries. Hope you have an injury free season ahead Teddy.
