Town Launch New Membership Scheme
Tuesday, 11th Jul 2023 18:12

Town have announced their revised membership scheme ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues have reviewed the existing schemes and have made wider ranging changes than had been anticipated.

A new single membership has been introduced for all adult supporters, the Super Blues membership package priced at £39.99, which will be available to buy here from 10am on Thursday 13th July.

Home games

For games at Portman Road, Super Blues members will receive priority for ticket sales, with non-season ticket holders at the head of the queue. All priority sales will be limited to one ticket per member.

Typical sales window for home games:
Monday, 10am — Super Blues members who are not season ticket holders.
Wednesday, 10am — Super Blues members who are season ticket holders.
Friday, 10am — Season ticket holders.
Monday, 10am — General sale.

The club reserves the right to monitor attendances and add additional priority levels.

Away games

Away sales will be prioritised towards Super Blues members and will work using a newly structured Away Priority Points scheme.

Initially, points will be awarded historically, based on away games attended by members during the 2022/23 season. Going forward, points will only be awarded to active Super Blues members, one point for every away ticket purchased.

Points will be visible on supporters’ online ticketing account in due course to help fans know where they stand in the priority windows.

Those purchasing a Super Blues membership will be awarded a five-point bonus at the point of purchase.

Ahead of the 2024/25 season, any points awarded from the 2022/23 season will be wiped down, therefore supporters will only carry one season’s worth of points into the next. This will be the process ahead of every new season with the oldest season’s collected points being wiped down.

Prior to each away game going on sale, the club will communicate how many points will be required to guarantee a ticket, which will be available at a rate of one per member.

Example sales window for away games:
Monday, 10am — Super Blues members with 30+ points.
Tuesday, 10am — Super Blues members with 25+ points.
Wednesday, 10am — Super Blues members with 20+ points.
Thursday, 10am — Super Blues members with 15+ points.
Friday, 10am — Super Blues members with 5+ points.
Monday, 10am — Season ticket holders.
Tuesday, 10am — General sale.

In addition to priority access to home and away tickets, a Super Blues membership also comes with a range of benefits, including:

I'm going to write to the club proposing some sort of reduced cost membership for bone fide overseas fans who may want to visit or return to Uk and watch a game. Or has anyone here know about any such scheme already?

This is what I consider to be the first dire decision by our club since the take over, so despite spending over £1000 on season tickets, those who spend £39.99 on a membership have the most priority on buying an additional home match ticket??….. that is disgraceful ITFC hang your heads in shame

The Gold card was a really beneficial thing. Easily got my money back by having one. This is double the money with half the benefit, especially when considering the away grounds this season will have more capacity than league 1. Don't think I will be buying one. Not well thought out idea maybe for £20.00 would have been ok.

Suffolk_n_Good I'm guessing that the thought process is that tickets will never get beyond season ticket holders then, meaning those that can't afford one or don't live nearby and so can't justify a season ticket will just never get the opportunity to see a game.

I feel that season tickets holders should get reduced price membership seeing as the benefits are much reduced. We're paying £40 simply for access to away tickets.

So a non season ticket becomes a member does 5 away games and gets a away ticket before a season ticket holder who may done 3 games really a poor decision if that's correct.

I note that children need to become a member of Junior Blues for access to away tickets. And there is a discount for season ticket holders.

2 x Season ticket holders and went to 5 away games last season. Will save the £39.99 x 2 and risk general sale. Not worth it. Yes we need to share the love but by the looks of this away tickets would be sold before our 10+ points hit the market!

I'm very pro MA but this feels like a massive kick in the teeth. Ive spent £1200 on 2 season tickets, i don't need access to more for home games so two of us are expected to pay £80 on top to buy away tickets when I can watch the hosts IFollow account on streamed service for free, no fuel cost, no food cost, no ticket cost and no TownTV fee either. Sorry ITFC you've got this massively wrong ill watch them for free on the Firestick. RETHINK

I guess as a lifelong ITFC fan living at the other end of the country, I'll not be seeing any live away matches this season then. Sad decision.

Bit of an own goal by the Club here in my view. Has cash cow written all over it . £1/2m income if just 12.5k fans buy one. Then they still have to buy the bloody match ticket .

Similar to me Juggsy. I'm trying to understand why the change, as system was ok in Championship last time. Is this the reason the sales lady decided to move on

Surely season ticket holders should get free membership to this scheme

Be interested to know how this stops away fans from ‘bigger' clubs (ie those likely to fill the away end) buying a membership so as they can get a ticket for their game in amongst town fans

So last year I was able to purchase a ticket for me, my dad and nephew in one transaction (as non members, general sale). So now, we basically all need to be a member (approx £110), we then all have to log on separately and hope there are still 3 seats together and buy individually??? Will you be able to link memberships to give one person the facility to buy multiple tickets so families can sit together?

I was mainly concerned in whether it rewarded my historical level of support which it does but at £40 plus the same for my son its at an unwelcome cost for some admin. Pay £40 is an unusual way to reward me for my loyalty - and to ensure I stay loyal.

However I like the way that you do not have to be a season ticket holder to amass points -There are many folk who live far away from Ipswich and have been watching home and away when we have been poor - for many years. Doncaster away on a Tuesday night - 50% + fans are from the North, this scheme I think rewards those fans who have been to 30 games a year + - its just that only 12 are at Portman Road.

This should also avoid a repeat of the Cambridge away ticketing fiasco.

What benfromkent said, not being able to buy tickets together with friends/family really will ruin the experience. I can't warrant a season ticket due to other commitments, but when I can go I want to be able to buy 2/3 tickets like before....

Imho it's equitable and inclusive.

As an occasional fan now (due to not living in Town and other commitments) the old scheme which I think was £30? and included a free ticket seemed fair. If I have read this post correctly I won't now have the free ticket and all I am paying for is to have priority booking. As I can probably only make 3 or 4 matches a season, in effect it will add £10-£13 per match ticket. Sad to say that is pricing me out of going now. I never thought, having followed the Town for 50 years including as a season ticket holder for 20ish, I would reach the day when I am being priced out of attending.

1967blue. Yes £40 is somewhat more thsn before but £40 is pricing you out of going? Really?

I guess they will run with this "scheme" having implemented it, they won't back out. I personally don't like it. I was happy with the gold and silver memberships, they worked for me, this does not. I shall give it a miss and keep my money. Shame.
