Three Clubs Agree Philogene Terms With Hull - Report
Saturday, 6th Jul 2024 21:28

Town, Everton and Crystal Palace are all reported to have met Hull City’s requirements regarding the signing of winger Jaden Philogene with it now up to the player who he wants to join.

The Blues have made a £35 million joint-bid to the Tigers for Philogene, who they were keen on last summer, and centre-half Jacob Greaves but with the Toffees and Eagles also making approaches.

Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that all three clubs are all prepared to meet Hull’s conditions for the Londoner’s signature. The player is expected to make a decision on his destination soon.

West Ham, the 22-year-old’s former club Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United have also been linked with the former England U21 international.

La Liga giants Barca were believed to be eyeing the forward with a view to a loan switch but Philogene says he will be moving to the Premier League.

Philogene, who has two years left on his Hull contract with the club having an option for a further season, joined Villa’s academy from the Pro:Direct Academy and spent spells on loan with Stoke and Cardiff City prior to making his £5 million switch to the MKM Stadium a year ago.

Need an answer soon or else we should move on. Don’t like being strung along by a player, or more likely his agent!

I assume we have alternatives identified if it doesn’t happen.

Think coming here is the best bet for him…

Surely he didn’t want to play Dyche ball?

He’ll probably be a bench player at Palace?

Certain starter here and working with the best manager in the country.

KmK should be a big enough draw, along with the project that is ITFC. Perfect fit for player and club

Any player with the ambition to become a better player has to be tempted by McKenna and his coaching staff. His agent however will probably only be looking at the money side of it and will want him to take the best personal terms on offer. It's a big decision, take the best deal now or become better and earn more later. No doubt we already have others in mind so if he doesn't choose Ipswich then some other exciting youngster will get the chance in his place.

We must be in with a shout otherwise we would have moved on to other targets by now (assuming we haven’t already). We moved onto Sarmiento and Hutchinson very quickly last year after being messed about by other targets/clubs. I’m really looking forward to seeing what surprises are around the corner. COYB

We can't lose.

If he chooses Town, fantastic.

If he doesn't, it's his loss and we'll find someone else who wants to be here.

Come on Jaden, choose us!

I really don't care how good a player is or could become, if you don't choose rowntree you can do one...and your slimes agent too!

Thats a tough choice. Can't see him picking Everton with the troubles they had last season. So its been between us and Palace. He probably knows that he would get first team football with us where as with Palace it would be down to whatever happens with Olise

I certainly wouldn't rule Everton out,as he may well be tempted by playing in their brand new stadium in front of 60000 fans.

I can see him picking Everton or Palace ahead of us simply because they can probably blow us out of the water financially. Which would be a shame.

Imagine him and Omari on the wings - thats an incredibly exciting prospect for us and a scary one for the opposition defenders!

I suppose on the plus side, he's played against us so he knows exactly how we play - that we play a fantastic brand of football and we have a great set of fans that would adore him. He's seen what McKenna can do for young players and who knows where a move here could lead to - hell maybe he'd get his dream Barcelona move one day! Plus here he'd be guaranteed first team football every week that perhaps the other 2 couldn't - we'd be in effect building a team around him and Hutchinson. Big fish vs large fish etc.

I'd give us maybe a 30% chance of this one but we shall see.

Need to do some good buisness ,as at present we have the same squad except plus one in Johnson -but minus - from last season (Ball, Vaz , Sarmiento , Ladapo , Jackson , Moore) Don,t doubt we have plans in place but these do not always pan out!.

His decision might come down to geography and if it does then we might miss 0ut but I dont nescasarily think that's gonna be the case! we will see shortly

It's great though that we are back in the big time and associated with signings like this and competing with established premier league teams. Dont forget Johnson chose us ahead of other offers including (supposedly) Everton and Palace!

Don’t blame him weighing up the options as a promising young player taking his next step - just like KM did in the spring. I still think he will pick Ipswich and they get this Greaves mush too FWIW.
