Town and Arsenal in Advanced Nelson Loan Talks
Friday, 30th Aug 2024 21:06

Town are in advanced talks with Arsenal regarding the loan signing of forward Reiss Nelson.

The Blues have been on the lookout for another attacker since the Armando Broja deal broke down yesterday.

Town and Chelsea revived talks regarding that move earlier today but, as reported yesterday, the Blues had made enquiries to other clubs regarding alternative signings.

As per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues and Gunners are in advanced talks regarding a loan deal ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline. Three other Premier League sides were also believed to be keen.

The 24-year-old, primarily a right-sided wideman but able to play on the left or as a number 10, came through the Arsenal academy and made his senior debut in 2017.

However, he has made 35 only starts - 10 in the Premier League, one last season - and 55 sub appearances for the North Londoners in total, scoring eight senior goals.

He spent 2018/19 on loan at Hoffenheim in Germany and 2021/22 at Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

Nelson, who was capped by England at U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels, made only one Premier League

Premier League clubs are allowed two domestic loans with Nelson set to take the second slot, Kalvin Phillips having become the first earlier in the summer.

Rated him for a while and he’s not a striker but typically our goals come from the three behind the striker. We have Delap, Ali and other who could fill in until Hirst is back. I suspect Broja might be looked at again either in Jan as a lower cost perm or if we stay up next season on a permanent. We clearly like Broja a lot to even consider signing him injured. It has to be permanent unless we dump Phillips or Nelson in Jan

Lee Brennan you’ll find Lee James is right and most people have agreed with him. Some
On here moan at anything and how do you even know lath was even discussed but only from news reports same news reports who said McKenna had signed with Brighton Chelsea and Utd during the summer. The only people who are in the ACTUAL know are Ashton and McKenna. If you think for one minute they’ve not tried to get a striker in then go wobble your head but again NO CLUB will be selling a striker unless they get replacements in first I’m not sure why you and a couple of others don’t understand that?? Not many strikers move about in this window it’s the ONE position every single team wants to strengthen not just us

I'm not even going to rise to the moaners. We have had a great transfer window, the players we have bought in and the ones from last year had a combined total goals of over 100. We have Delap and any of our attackers can play false 9, we have a huge amount of pace and noe a very solid back 4 this team has an abundance of talent and now Mckenna get them together and singing off the same hymm sheet. The moaners were saying yesterday we signed too many so perhaps Mckenna read that and took your advice...not! We also have Hirst coming back after the international break, we can even play Chaplin in 9 or Szmodicks and maybe let's keep that number 9 for a Jan signing.

Hats off to Mckenna and Ashton, all the pundits say we have done great business. Broja gone to Everton with option for 30 million, wallies, they my tip go down with Wolves and Leicester. Let's get behind the team and our new players and make Portman Road a fortress and for God sake stop moaning, we need this and we need that, I will say it again that our wildest dreams we didn't expect to be here in 2 seasons ago on same fixture day we played Charlton in league one, remember that tomorrow when you see where we are now and the players and talent we have on the pitch! Support not grumble.
