Carr's Gateshead Loan Spell Ends
Wednesday, 8th Jan 2025 14:49

Town youngster Ryan Carr’s loan spell with Vanarama National League Gateshead has officially come to an end.

The 20-year-old only featured three times during his half-season spell with the Heed, one two-minute sub appearance in the National League in September and one start and one game from the bench in the National League Cup.

Carr, who has played a part in the Blues’ first-team pre-season for the last couple of summers, has been back playing with Town’s U21s since early last month.

The midfielder joined the Blues from Carlisle in January 2023 having made one senior appearance for the Cumbrians.

Elsewhere, former Town left-back Matt Penney as left Rochdale after a short spell at Spotland. The 26-year-old had been without a club since leaving the Blues in the summer of 2023 before joining Dale in November.

Ex-Town winger Alan Judge, 36, has left Woking having rejoined the Cards in November.

Could also say his move to us has been bad too. Leaves Carlisle to join us then finds himself unable to break into a National League side. Doesn’t look like he has much of a future here.

In respect to Ryan Carr, if you were good enough you would be playing regular football at Conference level.
Too many of u21 are loaned out to non league outfits and don't get a game, or warm the bench, they then get released and stay at that level or lower.
Unfortunately it's indicative of the standard of player we are producing and if you think this is a negative post then go and watch the u21s, not since Cameron Humphries have we produced anyone worth shouting about.
