Blues Linked With Brighton Forward Enciso
Friday, 17th Jan 2025 19:07

Town are being linked with a loan move for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Paraguayan international forward Julio Enciso.

The 20-year-old was on the bench at Portman Road last night without making it onto the field.

According to Nacion Media, the Blues and Leicester are possible destinations for the attacker, who joined Brighton from Club Libertad in his home country for £9 million in 2022.

We understand Enciso is someone Town are aware of and have monitored for a couple of transfer windows, but is not currently the subject of an enquiry.

As it stands, the Foxes can’t sign another Albion player on loan as they already have Facundo Buonanotte on that basis with Premier League clubs limited to one player from another top flight side at a time.

Speaking about speculation that Enciso might be sent on loan in his press conference ahead of the Town game, manager Fabian Hurzeler said: “There are arguments for and against. But the most important is that he knows our arguments, that we know his arguments, that he's giving everything for the club, because in the end, he always says that he really likes to play for Brighton and that's why I think he already showed it this season so far.

“When he was on the pitch, then he had good performances, he proved it last Saturday against Norwich [in which he scored]. So in the end, we are really happy to have him here in the squad.

“We always have to negotiate what is the best for the individual development from the player. What is helpful at the moment? Is it like playing every game or is it training with the highest quality and not playing every game?

“So that's always a thing where we have to exchange with the player, where we have to negotiate what is the most helpful for the club, what is the most helpful for the player and then I'm sure that we will make the right decision.”

Enciso, who has been capped 23 times by Paraguay, scoring twice, is contracted until the summer of 2026 with Brighton not looking to sell him.

Town and the Seagulls have did January loan business last year, Jeremy Sarmiento coming in and playing a big part in the Blues’ promotion to the Premier League.

Despite having signed Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa, the Blues are still in the market for another forward - having had a £16 million bid to Liverpool for Ben Doak, who is currently loan at Middlesbrough, turned down a fortnight ago - as well as a new number nine.

Can't really see it happening, but would be a very useful addition to our front line options,if we do somehow make it happen.

Has also played as a number 9 so this makes a lot of sense. Primarily to play behind Delap but could do 20 mins up top if necessary. A loan to free some budget up for Doak would be great business.

Would Sarmiento put in a good word?

He's 5ft 8ins so certainly not the Delap type of player I wouldn't think.

No someone I would predict would save us from relegation. Hopefully we will show a bit more ambition than this

I think it’s looking progressively as if we need a Minor Miracle, more than another player.

Might increase our chances of getting free kicks from diving i suppose, as I suspect he's been well coached in that dark art at Brighton !

Fits the profile, often injured, but can score goals in this league, at the right price worth a punt.

Probably as we speak talks are ongoing and we will sign someone not even mentioned. Gone very quiet on Latte Lath. So different to the Evans era, signing players like Ivan Campo or Collin Quaner, back then taking players nobody else wanted, flip side of course we are competing with other clubs for signatures upside we have KM who players want to play under.

As positive as ever Blueboy

I think we should go for Batshuayi from Galatasary on loan for the rest of the season.

Thats been the trouble this season Stato a lack of ambition signing mostly championship players he would probably be an upgrade on what we have already got. When Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton got promoted they were well prepared for the Premier league with scouts in Europe and other parts i suspect we are still thinking championship and paying over the odds let's hope we learn next time.

@linkboy I totally accept that promotion took the club by surprise hence we took up a weaker squad than either Southampton or Leicester but the owners have supplied a lot of funds and some of the signings haven't worked. For me top if that list is Johnson who is our second highest paid player behind Morsy. Surely we don't need squad players but first team players if we are to move up the table. Philogene is a good upgrade on Burns but why do we need Encisco when we have Delap and Hirst. Surely we need someone who looks better than Hirst rather than just injury cover ?

4 goals from 43 games.

Is this really going to help us? We need someone better than this surely especially where we stand at this stage of the season.

The signings we make this window need to make a strong impact to the team especially attacking wise.

Batshuayi Is shocking and was a complete failure in the Premier League.

A Permanent deal would make more sense because of his age but a loan deal makes no sense at all. He's a decent player, but I don't think he would improve our squad, he would just be one more option.

Gosblue. A loan deal makes no sense at all? Really? So if we signed him permanently, and we do go down, we'd then be stuck with him paying bigger wahes than if he on loan

Gosblue. *bigger wages than if he on loan. If on loan and we go down, he goes at the end of the season. So a no risk signing. And surely better cover than Al Hamadi.

He's 20. Not part of the named squad unless he's on loan. We've got plenty just like him. Al Hamedi needs to be replaced by a Centre Forward.

Dissboyitfc - Dreamland, or being an Ostrich ? - Enjoy whichever ! - both suitable.

Harsh on Ivan Campo I think.

He wasn’t a bad defender, we just got him at the latter part of his career.

Hardly prolific...hasn't scored in the league in the last 2 seasons but saying that only used as a bit part player.

Can he fall over holding his head at the slightest touch ? We need to learn these tactics in this league, perhaps a falling over coach is required lol

You were dreaming Blueboy if you thought for a second we wouldnt be in a relegation battle. Feel sorry for you Blueboy been an amazing ride since Gamechanger took over and you havent been able to enjoy any of it! who's the ostrich? you are missing the point of supporting a football club if you cant enjoy whats happened/happening you really need to go do something else.
