Burns: The Comeback Will Be Better Than the Setback
Friday, 31st Jan 2025 19:46

Out-for-the-season Blues winger Wes Burns has vowed that the “comeback will be better than the setback” having suffered an ACL tear at Liverpool last week.

Manager Kieran McKenna confirmed at his press conference earlier this afternoon that the 30-year-old will undergo surgery next week and will miss the rest of the campaign.

Writing on Instagram, Wales international Burns admitted that it’s a big blow but is taking a positive outlook.

“Devastated that my season has ended this way, these things happen in football unfortunately,” he wrote.

“It’s going to be a long old road to recovery but I’m determined to come back better! With the support of my family, Ipswich Town and my amazing teammates I have no doubt my rehab journey will give me the opportunity to improve as a person and athlete.

“I have every faith that the lads can get the job done this year. The best is yet to come from this group. The comeback will be better than the setback.”

Hopefully he will get match fit again so we can sell him on in the Summer.
Shame that his last game in the shirt might of ended in that way, loyal servant but no even close to Premiership levels, in my top 3 least performing players this season with Morsy and Hamadi but his legacy will always remain for previous promotions.
Get well soon!

Well Lee, thats the way to kick a man when hes down!

An ACL injury like this typically takes 9 months plus, so Wes will be going nowhere next summer. In my view, whilst the step up to PL has been all of the players has been tough for those who came through League one with us, Wes' work rate and effectiveness in the roles he has been asked to play has been solid. He isnt someone I expect to be "offloaded" for the sake of it .

Rest and heal well young man, we are all behind you

If we stay up i do believe he will move on, not the only one who iv spoken to that thinks this. I wanted the wes that we had in the championship. But we know he will be looked after in his recovery

Nice comments LeeJames, we're you the school bully? You seem to like kicking someone when they're down.
