Wrexham Make £7m Approach For Broadhead Tuesday, 29th Jul 2025 19:23 Newly promoted Wrexham are reported to have made a £7 million approach for Blues forward Nathan Broadhead.

According to The Sun, the Blues haven’t actively been looking to sell the 27-year-old but aren’t ruling out allowing the Wales international to move on at the right price.
Rumours of Wrexham interest in Broadhead have been circulating all summer and TWTD understands there is something in the interest.
Last summer, Broadhead was close to returning to former loan club Sunderland on the same basis on deadline day but the Blues’ move to sign Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal broke down.
The Bangor-born attacker remained at Portman Road and was in and out of the side over the course of the Premier League season having been a key man in the back-to-back promotions following a £1.5 million move from Everton in January 2022.
Notably, the Broadhead has been left out of the squad for this evening’s game against Charlton Athletic at Colchester.
If the move goes through then Broadhead would become Wrexham’s biggest ever signing, beating the £5 million recently paid to Nottingham Forest for Lewis O’Brien.
The Red Dragons are also understood to be signing ex-Blues striker Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United for £4 million.

7M is a no brainer. Though I'd be gutted, as nath is one of the OGs and up there as my favourite player

He has the best feet of any of our players. He was one of the few who looked Prem quality. £7m nowhere near enough IMO.

Good squad player but in the last year of his contract iirc. If we can get that sum for him then let him go with our blessings. Going home for him too as he’s from that area so that must be a pull for hom too

Delap gone. Hutch and Broadhead likely. Zero attacking options signed. We remain a Hirst injury away from disaster. Less said about Ava 3 CM deficit the better. Rather than sell players, with less than ten days away from the big kick off, Ashton is hopefully focussing every effort on signing top quality permanent additions.

If he wants to leave we can’t stand in his way. If he sees the bigger picture staying & to fight for his place then good on him. £7m is good money to invest in other players in the squad. Hope he stays tho

Broadhead is quality, but he’s also likely to go missing sometimes. I actually think he looked good in spells last season. The issue is that we have 3 players that might be seen as ahead of him in that left sided role. Philogene for a start, Clarke and Szmodics. What would we do with the £7m is also a question, would this allow us to get the striker or centre mid we need? Don’t want to see him go but an excellent profit and might allow us to improve the side in a position of more need. More conflicted about this than Morsy

Phuck the money! We need the best players in the championship!

He’s got great quality, very good technically, but his fitness record isn’t great, he struggles with stamina to compete games, and he’s poor off the ball, and that’s a really good fee we could use in areas where we aren’t so strong. We have Clarke, and Sammie for that role.., and I suspect when McKenna says he sees Philogene on the left, that means it’s likely going to happen. Will be a loss quality wise, he can change a game.., but if we bring in another top striker, and two midfielders of quality.., that’s a much better balanced squad. A step back .., for two forward perhaps.

£7m makes a great move for him and us. This seems a natural move back to North Wales and to an exciting project. It will improve his international profile too. If Hutch is staying we absolutely don't need him.

If we have the choice between: Hutchinson, Szmodic, Chaplin, Clarke, Philogene, Burns, Ogbene, Broadhead and a £10m striker vs Hutchinson, Szmodic, Chaplin, Clarke, Philogene, Burns, Ogbene and a £17m striker Then unfortunately I'd choose the latter. We're are overstocked in attacking midfield and I'd prefer another striker or CM

Without another striker in it takes away another player who can score goals… agree with others he is underrated, in his prime at 27, and is a steal at that price. Depends whether he wants to stay and fight for a place for a club destined to return to the prem, or a Hollywood vanity project - on a separate note sorry I can’t forget Ben foster trying to saying on insta that Wrexham have proper owners compared to Ed Sheeran ! lol he’s was (and we’re greatful) our shirt sponsor - not our owner … https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1773378/Wrexham-star-Ed-Sheeran-Ryan-Re

I have said so many times over the last few years about how much I love this player. Everything he does is just fantastic. He close control and execution is second to none. If KM deems him to move on then I will trust the manager with that decision. Broady has left so many great memories where he often turned games on their head. People will remember his introduction against Saints on Jeremy night turned the tide in our favour after Saints played so well. His strikes on numerous occasions, but one night that really stood out for me was against an un-fancied side at PR (Port Vale?) we were 1 down at half time and attacked the North. We huffed and puffed, but the opponents kept finding a way to keep us out. From memory I think Broady came on again and got an equaliser and then we get given a late penalty. I'm sure the opponents were trying to scuff up the penalty spot and it was taken over 5 minutes after the pen was given and he smashed it home. It was amazing. We played fairly well, but they were so well drilled. Matches like that make you think that it is your year. I will be gutted if he goes, but nothing last forever. Modern day ITFC hero.

Whether Broadhead goes or not, in my opinion, isn’t the most important issue that ITFC have to face at the moment. What is, is the lack of signings. Our midfield needs bolstering, relying on the young Barbrook to fill a gap, won’t cut it. We need at least 3 more midfielders and another CF. Relying on George Hirst not getting injured is like playing Russian Roulette. If he does, the alternative, won’t be good enough. These are observations that many of us no doubt have considered, like it or not, I’ve just highlighted them.

£7M gets you nothing in this league. He's worth way more than that. If he wants to leave, he has my best wishes and gratitude, but I would love him to stay.

Am I the only one starting to get a bit alarmed at our trading. Burgess Morsy Tuanzebe possibly Broadhead and Hutchinson all very capable Championship players out, shipping in a couple of French league players and a 40 year old. Think we need to up our game if we are to display any bouncebackability. Ffs.

If they offered 7mil, counter with 10mil. I am a fan of what he can do, but I feel in his whole time with us we have barely ever had a fully fit NB. Like others I don’t want him to go, but I think we are well covered in his position. If he was able to stay away from those pesky little injury’s and could give us 40+ games I would say keep him, but I do think moving away is the right thing for ITFC

Broadhead worth every penny. His neck of the woods might sway it
TimmyH added 21:47 - Jul 29
If Hutchinson goes which is likely before the Premier transfer window closes then no way should we be selling Broadhead...central midfield is weaker lets no add to that on our attacking threat. As a Championship standard player he's quality.
Broadbent23 added 21:52 - Jul 29
By selling Broadhead is not showing our intent for promotion. He is too valuable to Town. Stop this talk NOW.
