Broadhead Travelling to Wrexham After Fee Agreed Thursday, 14th Aug 2025 09:46 Town and Wrexham are reported to have agreed a £10 million deal for Blues forward Nathan Broadhead with the 27-year-old on his way to Wales to complete his switch.
The move comes as no surprise with the newly promoted club having made an approach just over a fortnight ago with the player keen on a return to the club where he was a schoolboy but with Town unwilling to agree a deal at that point due to their lack of attacking options.
On Sunday, the Blues completed the loan addition of Chuba Akpom from Ajax and are understood to be near to signing Como frontman Iván Azón and their recruitment appears to have given the green light to Broadhead’s exit.
The Wales international missed Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Bromley having reported sick on the day of the game and otherwise would have played.
According to Sky Sports, a deal which could ultimately be worth £10 million including add-ons has been agreed and Bangor-born Broadhead is on his way to North Wales for a medical and to tie-up the formalities relating to the move.
Rumours of Wrexham interest in Broadhead, who had only a year left on his contract, had been circulating all close season with the former Everton man having been in and out of the Town side last season in the Premier League.
Last summer, Broadhead was close to moving to former loan club Sunderland on deadline day but the Blues’ move to sign Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal broke down and the Bangor-born attacker remained at Portman Road.
A key man in the back-to-back promotions following a £1.5 million move from Everton in January 2022, Broadhead made 56 starts and 28 substitute appearances for the Blues, scoring 23 goals.
Broadhead is will become Wrexham’s biggest ever signing, beating the £5 million recently paid to Nottingham Forest for Lewis O’Brien.
Ex-Blues striker Kieffer Moore recently moved to the Racecourse Ground from Sheffield United for £4 million.

Really bad decision this. Broadhead is so much more talented than the useless twonk Jack Clarke. He also suits the play of Leif by not being on the touchline and getting in the way like the useless twonk Jack Clarke. Basically Jack Clarke is a useless twonk is what I'm saying

This one is no doubt going to come back and bite us on the behind. I really wished we were keeping Broady as he always gave 110% and linked up so well with Davis, Chappers, Hirst. I wonder if this means that Jaden is close to coming back but we also do have Clarke, Szmods and as McKenna said Akpom can also play there if need be so we have lots of cover. Hopefully we at least keep him for the Sunday game so we can give him a send off at Portman Road. Thank you Broady for everything

this is a sad day I love watching broadhead always gives 110% and he will come back against us and get a good reception unlike another player who i hope won't

Sad, but bit part player last season, not sure why,but very much one of the Bandof Brothersthat gave us two great seasons. Thanks Broady and all the best.

Gutted to see Broady go. Always made things happen and right at the heart of both promotions. I thought he looked at home in the Premiership too, despite the restricted playing time. Worth every penny. Best of luck in your homeland Nathan.

Good deal for a player with only a year left on his contract, however I for one am sorry to see Nathan leave. I always thought Town were a better team with Nathan in it, and he contributed massively to our successive promotions I feel he was overlooked at times by KMc and replaced with players who weren’t as good as him. He always had an eye for a clever pass too.

Feel a bit sorry for Nathan as a few others have mentioned probably should have been starting more regularly over players that just haven't delivered. Saying that £10M for him with a year left on his contract is good business by Ashton, all the best Nathan for the rest of your career.

Technically a brilliant Player just his fitness a concern and when fit the best passer of the ball at the club. Always been a favourite and sorry to see him go. Probably a good move for him with a fresh start and good business if all the add ons mature. Nice to actually see us sell a player for a profit not happened that often of late. I’m sure he will get a great reception when he comes back, good luck Nathan.

Sad to see him go but I'm sure he'll be their main striker and be on the team sheet every match. Wrexham is certainly an exciting club to be involved with at the moment.

Seemed to have something e xtra about him and perhaps the potential to do great things may be he will blossom at a diferent club if he can keep fit. a classy footballer who will be remembered fondly.

I’ll be a little saddened to see him leave, as I believe he’s a talented footballer. But you have to acknowledge that this is a good piece of business. He only has a year left on his contract, and we are making a very decent profit on his signing to Wrexham.

A good player - especially at Championship level. Not physically well equipped enough for the Prem. A decent fee for us - but as a personal trajectory he’s gone from having the chance to prove himself at Premiership level with us, to playing for Wrexham. I’d understand that if he was 32/33 but he’s 27.

Sad to see NB go, fantastic player who has been integral to our rise up the leagues. That is brilliant business however, a profit of potentially £8.5 Million!

Broadhead is a top top player who should have been a nailed on starter. Can’t help than feel a little disappointed with this news. Good return for the club financially and I wish him all the best at Wrexham, apart from 2 games of course.

£10m for a guy who played very little? It's a brilliant deal for us and for him. good luck Nathan!

Good deal all round for a good player. We move on to pastures new, as does he. Good luck, Broady, and thanks for your time with us.

There was always a little trickery in him and knew how to find the goal, not too worried about this because he wanted away like Omari. That said i always liked him , he kept his head down and woorked hard and for me has much more quaility the chappers and burns to name but two.We need bodies in or this could go pearshaped.

We look like exceeding the £100 million of player sales Gamechanger told us would happen. Mostly replaced with loans, to move depreciating assets to cash and increase a sales multiple. We really need to talk about the owners wanting to sell, it’s a difficult watch, seeing emotionally invested supporters treated like village idiots (at times). When Brett went public, Ashton should have qualified the situation and the consequences.., the club, Mark and Kieran have had amazing and unwavering support. We deserve better than half truths.., everyone in football knows the situation, apart from our supporters, it’s borderline gas lighting.

Is this good business? Probably. Is it still devastating? Absolutely. Will he score a worldy against us? No doubt. I'll be forever intrigued to know what KMc saw differently with Nathan. Most exciting player we've had in years for me.

BeattiesBackPocket - well done Ashton? Since he said we didn’t need to sell a single player, and relegation was progress, we’ve sold our best players. San, Delap, Broady, Tuenzabe, Burgess, and Hutchinson, that group would still a game against what we retained. That will be close to the £100 million in player sales, almost exclusively replaced with loans - ALL of which leave next summer if we don’t get promoted. Well done Mark Ashton? .., have you had too much sun? How is that a strategy to build long term success? It’s the strategy of a club moving depreciating assets, off the balance and in to cash, ready for a sale. You need to stop blindly following.., there are cults and religions for that.., honestly we need so much better than this. Even under Evans we never sold all our best players in one window and replaced with loans, we were actually good at retaining our best players. This is a massive red flag, players know what’s happening, that’s why lots of them are OUT. At what point do a run of our supporters finally wake up? Not a disaster IF we get new owners, but the heart and soul and quality has been ripped from this group. We deserve some honestly from Mark, not him gas lighting you, because you’d follow him off a cliff.
