Town Eyeing Uruguayan International Defender Friday, 15th Aug 2025 16:16 Town are eyeing Uruguayan international centre-half Sebastian Caceres, TWTD understands.
Caceres, 25, plays for Mexican Liga MX side Club América having joined them from hometown club Liverpool Montevideo in 2020.
Having played for his country at U18, U20, U22 and U23 levels, the 5ft 11in tall centre-back has gone on to win 20 caps at full level.
While with his current club he has won three Primera División titles, a Campeón de Campeones and a Supercopa MX.
A move for another centre-half would perhaps be a surprise with the Blues appearing well set in that area as it stands, however further movement is expected throughout the squad before the transfer window closes.
Earlier in the transfer window, the Blues were linked with a move for another Liga MX player, Deportivo Toluca midfielder Marcel Ruiz.

I personally think O’Shea and Greaves are vastly overrated. A Hull City centre-back pairing and nothing more. Lack of height is a concern but Uruguayan’s are tough cookies - if he can come thru that competitive environment and get that many caps he must have something about him. I hope it doesn’t mean Woolfenden is on his way. I prefer him over either O’Shea or Greaves.

Other than being a local lad..I can't see what people see in wolfendon he's not the quickest player and doesn't read a game very well thats why he gets caught out from it. Not a consistent player to be playing week in week out...

So why was Woolfie given a 4 year deal? Tricked into thinking he was the future or given more years as a bargaining tool? Perhaps Agents are not the only spivs about?

Whenever there's a new story on TWTDs it seems to give some people a reason to have a moan lm a round peg in round holes person myself but i was impressed with Greaves at left back even at Premier league level but not so much O'shea at right back and no way will it happen on a regular basis. The midfield looks weak at the moment and i going against my principles by saying i think Ashley Young could do a emergency job there . Very worried about Sunday's game i hope Acpom starts in the number 10 role but knowing McKenna he will probably start on the bench. Don't know what Cajustes fitness levels are like can only see him getting 20 minutes at the most. The first few games are going to be very difficult they always are for the teams that come down i call it relegation hangover . Im very patient and i won't be slagging any body off i rarely do as long as they give one hundred percent.

Never turn the chance to have a Uruguayan centreback. The dirtiest of the dirty, in the very best way. Especially in a league where there is no VAR.

What does the future hold for Elkan Baggott? Bringing in back up players from all over the world is hardly encouraging to those coming through our youth scheme.

Must be a really good player being capped by his country 20 times. Could be an exciting signing if it happens. People saying 5’11 isn’t tall?? I’m 6’1 tall 5’11 is only 2 inches. You’re not small at 5’11, it’s still a good height for a defender.

The greatest centre backs. Moore , Beckenbauer, Barasi, Puyol to name but a few all under 6ft just a myth.

Lot's of people seem to be obsessed with height. It's not just down to that, timing and technique also count in the air. Back in the day here, Billy Baxter was a 5ft 9ins centre back, and he could outjump players a good few inches taller. Maybe I have a size complex as I'm only 5ft 6ins :)

Another quality player linked to us. I reckon we should throw our toys out of the pram again guys. And over-dramatise everything. Throw in some random self-pity too, eh. We must also avoid following the Brentford/Brighton model, of having a squad full of young valuable talent. So let's complain about every news article. Oh and and Gamechanger, we want you to be quiet and supportive in the background. So can you please say something out loud, for one guy in the TWTD forums! He'll be in therapy soon, if you don't say something. And for gawd's sake will you stop selling the correct players at good prices!! Jeez. /s

Typical isn't it? We ask for a global scouting network, and they keep finding exactly those types of players. It's a blimin' disgrace! Read our lips Ipswich Owners..."We want a global scouting network". So why the hell are you doing exactly that?? Ridiculous. What next? An elite-level Category 1 Youth Academy?? /s
