Hutchinson: Ipswich Will Always Have a Place in My Heart
Saturday, 16th Aug 2025 19:44

Exiting forward Omari Hutchinson has thanked everyone at Town and says Ipswich will always have a place in his heart having made his £37.5 million move to Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old’s switch was confirmed this afternoon, the England U21 international signing a five-year deal.

“Dear Ipswich Town,” Hutchinson wrote on Instagram. “It’s hard to put into words, but after two years of an unforgettable journey, it’s time for me to say goodbye to you guys.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone at the club for the memories we’ve created and to my teammates I shared a dressing room with.

“Most importantly to Kieran McKenna, I will always be grateful for what you done for me and helping me to become a better player and person.

“Town’s fans, I just want to say thank you for the endless love, thank you for believing in me and making this chapter so special. Ipswich will always have a place in my heart. 💙 Forever grateful, Marz20.”

Thank you, Omari, for leaving me with some great memories. No £40m player stays in the Championship. I hope you do brilliantly at Forest, and that we meet again next season.

Omari is a top class footballer.. we were lucky to have him in the first place.. he came from Chelsea ffs.. he hasn't screwed us over he did very good work and Bromley is not a place for a player of his class... however whatever happened to Armando...

A little worried about players leaving...Butcher said it best. If he didn't want to play for Town or refused let him train with the youth team. Butcher would die for ITFC and so would all of us if we played for us.
So much for running towards adversity...

Well at least the saga has finally ended. I'm certainly not intending to spew abuse in Omari's direction. The one thing he did wrong I suspect in most peoples eyes on here and elsewhere, was not make himself available for selection if required, and I can see that argument for sure.

I would just to like offer another take on the whole situation. If he had agreed to play, and sustained a nasty injury, there would then have been three very unhappy parties. Ourselves who would have lost the chance to bank £37.5M less Chelsea % etc. Forest, and of course Omari himself. Three losers, no winners. When I was around 21, I made a very big mistake in my life ( long since confined to history ), and I didn't have a £35/40M price tag on my head or people whispering in my ear ( I have one in particular in mind ) who have their own seperate agenda's not neccessarily to Omari's benefit. Yes it could have all been handled better, but we all move on, and it looks like some of the money might be used imminently if the latest article on site proves correct!

Virginblue… get your facts right… sammie was pushing for a move to itfc as it clearly was his last possible chance of playing in the premier league… he “pushed” through the move correct but did he refuse to play?? I think he said look please give me this chance but actually scored 3 goals in Blackburns first 2 games!! What Omari has done makes many fans think “what is the point” we go up.. we offer a player with big potential a 5 year contract.. he signs it… why sign a 5 year deal if you wanna jump ship so soon?? Please accept the game has gone regardless of Ashton/McKenna etc.. these young over hyped English players are obsessed to call themselves a “premier league player” even though they’ll only be squad players!! Same as his mate Hackney who’s getting wrongly advised! Up coming English talent are far better plying their trade in the championship to gain minutes but sadly money talks and they see the hype/agent blowing smoke up their backsides and go for the money!!!

Omfg, sum on here are painfully narrow minded and hypocritical. Thank you Omari, you lit up our l1 & champ successes. You were played out of position in the Prem, GUARANTEED he will play on the right wing for Forest & if so, will go on to have a glittering career. No issue with him, more of an issue with Town, what didn't town just accept the 35mill & move on. Refusal cost us weeks in rebuild, any1 we get will take wks to bed in. Nervous AF about the next few matches but COYB Uppa Towen!!

I'm gutted about this.
Unlike a lot of people, I'm not going to let how this ended ruin my memories of him.
He was pivotal to our promotion success, and I will always be thankful to him.
Great talent, I hope he improves further and lives his dream.

Listen, no bad feelings here. Have to put number one first - or at least where the bread comes from.

But a shame in how business was conducted at the end there. But the club will be here long after us, ultimately it doesn't matter.

As always, Up The Towen!

Well unlike 100's of other players who have left including Broady, you won't be in ours you patronising little get. Jog on, forgotten already and not welcome back.

Sorry, but Omari refused to play, feigned a throat infection, didnt want to travel. Butcher used to play on when he was two pints of blood down. Nathan wanted to leave but was professional about it. I'm renowned on here for always sticking up for the player, but ive no time for this. He did what he had to do, and we will judge him accordingly

I think that you have to look between the lines in what Kieran McKenna has said about the situation. You only have to see that his agent is Kia Joorabchian to understand that a lot will have been said to Omari and unsettled him, Joorabchian is only interested in the size of his agents fee.

Much like Tyreece Simpson and Ben Knight, the temptation of bigger things coupled with advice from people around them, I think this has been handled very poorly. I would hope that people would understand that it’s not all on Omari’s shoulders. KMC has already said as much.

I appreciate what the lad has done and wish him well, however, the last few weeks have clearly tainted the legacy of what he did here.

In regards of some of the comments on this page nowadays, it’s quite sad to see such vitriol and nastiness.

Really hope as you age you learn from past mistakes, unfortunately these boys are influenced by agents etc….those words sound hollow, a lesson in not how to conduct yourself as a professional in the public eye.

Thanks for the memories and I wish you well. Soured a bit at the end, but the good you did here far outweighs that.

And so it should, but it’s too little and too late unfortunately. There is very little substance to the words!
