Azón 'Wants Future Settled This Week' Sunday, 3rd Aug 2025 08:50 Blues loan target Ivan Azón hopes to settle his future this week with Valencia still his preferred destination, it is being reported in Spain.
Town’s interest in the 22-year-old Como striker emerged on Friday, negotiations regarding a loan to Valencia having stalled.
However, according to AS.com, former Spain U21 international Azón’s preference remains a move to the Mestella and as a result is delaying his response to Town and Getafe, who are also believed to be interested, along with an unnamed Bundesliga side.
The Blues are reported to have made the best financial offer to Serie A Como, who want the player’s wages covered as well as a loan fee.
Valencia and Como are said not to have come close to an agreement, despite their protracted talks, and haven’t spoken in a number of days.
The Murciélagos are also reported to have other targets in mind, among them Canadian international Cyle Larin, who is currently with Mallorca.
Meanwhile, an Italian report yesterday claimed Azón was getting closer to joining Town on loan with an option to buy should the Blues win promotion to the Premier League.
Azón, who is 5ft 11in tall, started his career with his hometown club Real Zaragoza before moving to Como in January for €2 million (£1.7 million) plus a further €500,000 (£435,000). It’s been reported he is available for loan for €500,000 having yet to take to the field for Como, in part due to injuries.
For Real Zaragoza, he scored 27 goals in 150 appearances, also picking up nine assists.

Mmm another player not wanting to come to town. Can see why Ashton and co are struggling, we are just not an attractive option for many players.

We are just not quite as much as we were this time last year for this calibre of signing.

No time to mess around wasting time on him, we need to be looking at other options asap

DavoIPB: i agree to some extent with you. But I dont think its Town ( the club) that's not attractive but more the division we are in atm. You've got players wantingbyo leave because they want to be in the PL , you've got players who've gad a very good offer, rejecting it in " the hope" a PL comes in for him ( I hope they dont) and he now rots st Boro. These players are not even worried WHICH PL club shows interest. ANY will fo. They just want yo play at thst level and of course get the excessive pay cheque that goes with it. Whilst you'd have to acknowledge Ashtins aiming high fir players coming in, I think hes bern a tad over ambitious in expecting those targets to want to play at CC when they are borderline PL level. Now we've in all likelihood missed out on very decent CC level players to our rivals!

Fairly unexcited by this one as things stand, but we shall see - IF indeed he comes!

All these players are just people making choices that are important to them and not easy. On here, some think that everyone should jump at the chance to join us. As much as I love ITFC, we are just one of thousands of clubs in hundreds of divisions in many countries. The players that are here will be the ones that want to and the ones that matter.

DavolPB. Why do you believe every thing that is "reported" as being the case. No1 knows if he prefers a move to Valencia or not. Prefer to wait and see. End of the day, if he signs for us, it'll mean he wanted to come. After all, he doesn't have to agree to any move at the end of the day. Could just stay where he is if he didn't want to come here

Blue moon has it right. We are going for top flight calibre players and obviously that is harder to attract when not top flight and your competition is top flight.

No idea whether this would be a good signing or not but looks like another deal that probably won’t happen. I do wonder if we are being ‘played’ by players and agents to engineer the moves they really want!

Who know how many foreign players can be allowed in a match ?

Don’t know anything about him, but his highest goals tally in a season is 7. 27 goals in 150 matches isn’t a great return.

I think it’s very clear that we live in a very different world when it comes to transfers, nowadays. Gone are the days when teams simply agreed a deal and the player was off. Now, rightly, the players have more of a say in the transfer. People saying to move on should remember this is a young lad that is being asked about moving country. I wonder how many people commenting here, would feel they were able to up sticks and go to another country where you don’t know anyone or the culture. If he comes, choosing us over a La Liga side it would be quite a coup for us as a club so I feel it’s natural that he would want to take a bit of time. However, us football fans with the start of the season day away are very impatient.

Jas009 the same as Delap when he joined! People saying move on, I would rather wait for targets than get in panic signings! 4 weeks to go I do think we get in some quality signings, loans with an option to buy are perfect for good players! Well said blue moon!

Jas0999. And hirsts highest scoring season is only 13. And 32 in 207 games. But we all think Hirst is a good player dont we? Some1 who helps others score by the way he plays. So if this guy is similar to hirst he should be fine. And he has been playing at a higher level, so may score more goals at championship level. Could be another Counago. No1 had ever heard of him before we signed him, and that turned out ok, didn't it.

The management have consistently said that they only want new players that are an upgrade on what we already have. To do that we are targeting players that we can afford but still have the potential to be coached to reach PL level if and when we get promoted. players that are better The problem with relegation is that the Championship is attractive but not as attractive as the PL or the top leagues in many European countries and so these players are not going to find us initially as attractive as last season and we may have to be patient to get them.

ArnieM I totally agree, but we have had players leaving for Swansea and Wrexham also. The Hutchinson one is a worry…, it’s obvious the KM lustre has worn off.., some of these players would stay if they thought we were really well positioned to go up .., it’s a fair assumption Brentford will have a tough season ahead. There’s a lot of people who have worked with Ashton and Mckenan who are voting with their feet, and that includes Gamechanger. We had a long time to plan this window, relative to last summer when promotion was unexpected. If this window closes and we have the gaps we currently do, or have taken risky punts to fill holes, it looks I’m afraid what it is …, poorly planned, and poorly executed. Sunderland, and Leeds especially signing proven top flight players, and Birmingham etc seem to have a clear strategy, and be executing it to the T. Not persuading Hackney isn’t a good look if he stays at Boro. There’s biggestbworry is we have the money with parachute and sales to have lots of dry powder. So it’s very much footballing reasons .., I think McKenna wa always seem as a superb coach .., but after last season, everyone now knows as a manager he’s well short in some areas.., and at some clubs like maybe Brighton, that wouldn’t matter.., with Ashton it does, because they seem to have the same blind spots. We have so much quality in the front 4, as long as we get a good striker, we’ll probably have a great season, we will score goals that’s for sure - but the same mistakes and shortfalls remain if we ever want to be elite. And we really should be aiming for elite.., this is staggering far from how elite clubs work. We should have had contact with targets well before the end of last season.., we did the Delap deal done through 24/25 so there’s no excuse not to know where we are at the end of June with dry powder through 25/26 accounts. We should have got Hutchinson done too.., we’ll end up with maybe having to wait until kate in the window and any additional value is lost ten fold if we have to buy deep in to the window. All in all.., it the same mistakes we keep making .., it’s hard not to see we need some new bums on seats in key roles.
