I was there and saw the pitch invasion on the final whistle. I sit in the South Stand. It occurred to me afterwards that I never saw the Huddersfield team go off. Seeing that photo of the Huddersfield gk walking off reminded me of a video of the pitch invasion where you could make out the Huddersfield players in their yellow shirts walking off through the crowd like ghosts. Very surreal. |

His reaction to our goal was greater, I thought. He sounded disappointed after as well. [Post edited 7 Feb 2023 22:20]

 | Forum Reply | WTF - just watched the highlights at 10:06 22 Jan 2023
Just watched the highlights on EFL & you couldn't see the flight of the ball for their 2nd until it hit the back of the net. A friend of mine who went said she couldn't see that goal & said the gk wouldn't have seen it either. I didn't go and listened on ifollow audio. In the 2nd half as the fog worsened he said he couldn't commentate as he couldn't see the players. But I thought about people who travelled a long way and how difficult it would have been for them getting back. It was difficult for everyone concerned in that game, not just players/managers. |

Looks like the club is going to look into it, according to the latest news item. Remains to be seen what happens with that. |

I listen on ifollow only. Different experience altogether listening to the new in-house commentary as it's clearly geared to those watching. I start off listening to it then switch to the opposition radio. Radio & TV commentary skills are not the same. You don't get pauses and plugging tickets/merchandise on local radio. You are painted a clear picture of what's happening on the pitch & continuous commentary. Brings you to the heart of the game so you can picture what's happening. It's what I've always preferred about it. Totally different to tv commentary. Fans should get a choice like some clubs have done. I know we're stuck with it, but that's just my opinion. I live in London and have to listen to matches on ifollow audio if I can't make games as you can only get BBC Radio in certain parts of Suffolk. However, today for the first time I managed to listen to the whole league match commentary on the BBC Sounds App on my laptop. I got it on my phone first. Maybe because the the club has ditched BBC RS for in-house commentary the BBC don't have the same broadcasting limitations as before. |
 | Forum Reply | Commentary much improved today at 16:30 13 Aug 2022
Yes he is the guest co-commentator today. Much better with him there. Will be someone else next week. Bit distracting though with Glen Wheeler suddenly switching to talking about tickets for something in the middle of the action. Switched to away which is 3 counties radio and just that bit better. Good that we have that option. [Post edited 13 Aug 2022 16:30]

Glen Wheeler the new in-house commentator saying it's Westlake. An Improvement from last week with Westlake there. Wheeler doing a bit of advertising as well which is a bit distracting from the action when Wheeler suddenly starts talking about tickets for something. Switched to away and it's 3 counties radio and just that much better. Their commentator sounds a bit like Brenner. |

As it stands it does appear atm they want to stick stubbornly to it. Worked for them before but no guarantee it will work here. A shame as other clubs have demonstrated that it's possible to do both. They clearly underestimated those who listen on ifollow audio. |

Re cost, I was wondering how other clubs manage to provide separate radio and tv commentary like Notts Forest, Norwich. Hence, my earlier comment about being given the option for either RS or tv commentary. Those clubs obviously looked into it. I wonder how much research was done and consideration, if any, was given to ifollow audio listeners, as the new commentary is currently geared towards those watching. [Post edited 12 Aug 2022 18:12]

I agree. I'm starting to sound like a broken record with this. I've posted about it so many times. I sent an email after the first game from which I got an impersonal 'circular' from Marcus Nash and that my email would be forwarded on for his 'perusal'. Not surprised I haven't heard anything yet. I don't think they were expecting such a big response. A Scott Paul on scott.paul@itfc.co.uk is now another contact. Makes sense what Joe is saying about their not being aware of the tv commentary going out to listeners on ifollow audio. Or even how many listen on ifollow given the strength of the response. The game vs FGR was a bit better, but still a long way off. After describing Morsy's goal vs FGR, he then went on to say '....and for those listening on ifollow audio....'. Shows it's biased towards those watching on livestream. As they're going down the Town TV route fans listening on ifollow audio be given a choice of either BBC radio or tv commentary as other clubs have done. Apparently he has a 'radio background', which can mean anything. He was 'misbriefed' about the Bolton match. Will take a while to get up to standard, perhaps. But ultimately they underestimated the response. It's not what ifollow audio listeners in the UK, o/s Ipswich, signed up for. With respect to Glen Wheeler as he's just been posted there by the club. But forcing a change on people without a plan b will lead to people cancelling their subscriptions. Good radio commentary unites fans, both listening and watching. It helps you to visualize the match, brings you to the heart of the game. People may not always agree with what's being said or certain reactions, but that's minor compared to the overall experience. It's a vital community asset that's being underestimated. |

I manage to get it every week. I found Life's a Pitch with just a minute to go, so I'll get that on catch up. I've never found the BBC Radio Suffolk website the easiest to navigate around. Is a bit of a faff at times. [Post edited 7 Aug 2022 13:27]

Strange. I was able to access the online post match programme straight after the match last night. |
