It's the route she should have gone down from the start.

The DUP would never support a Corbyn government so there was no need for the Tories to get their hands dirty talking to them in the first place.

So should she be wooing the Lib Dems? If she carries on as she has done over the last couple of weeks she is just a couple of by-elections away from completely losing control.

This was my original thought, negotiating with the DUP just seemed a box ticking exercise to have more than the required MPs on side. Practically, those 10 MPs will make little difference and probably would have supported Tory legislation in parliament anyway without an agreement.

If the Lib Dems go anywhere near her then they are one General Election away from losing all their seats.

Once bitten, twice shy.

No. She should have done what I said. Formed a minority government knowing that the DUP would not vote against the Tories and help bring in a Corbyn government.

Well, that's the first test of her government's negotiating skills failed. And to think they had the cheek to say they were the strong party for Brexit negs. If they can't agree a bilateral deal with a party they've got much in common with it doesn't bode well at all.

It isn't as simple as that. The DUP can vote against every piece of legislation if they wish without either bringing down the government or triggering a new election. Some certainty that the DUP will support its legislative program (whatever that proves to be) would be of benefit to all.

The government could fairly easily find itself unable to pass almost all of its legislation, being in office but not in power.

This morning it seems there is no common ground between the tories and the DUP although we have no details it must be considered that Europe will be some of those issues that canot be agreed ?

If that is the case there is likely to be a number of issues where the governemnt will get trapped?

Mr davis has conceded, as reproted on Friday (in some quarters) to the EU schedule, not that he had much choice, so the question of the Irish internal border will crop up soon along with the rights of current EU residents living outside their home country.

If the tories try to push any of this through without consulting parliament there will be some calls for a review at least.

It is reported the RW are circling for the hard Brexit route to be followed come whatever that will be challenged. The tories may well split over that.

There is no effective government at this time

The Tories are suffering now from what happened to the Lib Dems when they were in coalition. It's all very well taking credit for the popular policies of your minor partner (triple lock on pensions, hike in tax free allowance) whilst letting them taking the blame for your own unpopular policies (increasing tuition fees), but you can only get away with that once. Now even the DUP are wary about supporting them in case they suffer the same fate as the lib dems.

What this has done is to show us just what 'the nasty party' would like to do.

The DUP aren't wary. They are trying to squeeze as much as they can out of a government that is playing with a very week hand.

If something's *not* in the Queen's speach, does that mean the governement can't do it at a later date?
