I dunno man. I think there is quite a lot in this. Talk to Matt Holland Burley Jermaine Wright Magilton and they all say pretty much the same thing, Finidi Sereni totally disrupted the dressing room and the team pattern. That's not to say they were clearly very good by the way. Sereni is certainly one of our top 3 keepers.
did his signing take us from 5th Prem to Relegation in one season ?
did it ?
Neither did Finidi's. Third highest score,r from midfield, in a terrible team when he spent a lot of the season out after busting his cheek going up for a high ball despite his so-called 'laziness'. There were many more people more culpable for our relegation, not least the manager.
In terms of signings, it is without argument that FinidiSerini were the worst signings on the planet. Big money spend which gave us 5th in Prem to relegation ...
What other signings come close to that ?
Sorry, it's not 'without argument', it's simplistic nonsense.

It’s not an argument because it’s a fact. It doesn’t matter if we had signed maradona and pele. If we got relegated from 5th in prem they would have been our worst signings.
I don’t care what they did or didn’t do on the pitch. The result of the signings was catastrophic.

It is not a fact. The result of the mismanagement was catastrophic. That's not the same thing. This is basic logic.
I have a Nigerian mate and the problem is they often don't record the date of birth. He's not entirely sure how old he is!
I used to work with an old Zulu, in a Township near Bloemfontain and he told me "that he was born in the year of the great locust plague", when I asked him how old he was.
It's nonsense this idea that Sereni was some sort of wonder-goalkeeper.
He was a great shotsaver. He was invisible whenever a high cross came over; he would have needed to make fewer eye-catching saves if he had been positionally better; he was totally incapable of organising our defence.
Richard Wright gave his defence confidence. Matteo Sereni gave his defensive colleagues the heebie-geebies. In my time watching ITFC I can think of many keepers I would be happier with than Sereni.
