Just been looking at Ipswich v Norwich vids on Youtube. 08:18 - Mar 2 with 2622 viewsnoggin

Anyone who thinks our derby is one of the biggest in the country is deluded. It is clearly one of the least intimidating atmospheres of all English derbies. Some of those videos are really quite embarrassing from both sides.

Did you include the one of Norwich fans taking the away pub?

Last I heard both sets of fans were singing the same song.

I saw an article before where it stated the old farm derby ( cannot locate it ) was second in terms of arrests suprisingly.

I'd say it's quite intimidating and a bit of fun.

The videos may be embarrassing - especially that Norwich melt Chris........ however the rivalry is not.

Because videos on YouTube are now the barometer?

It’s the biggest derby to Ipswich & Norwich fans, no one else.

I would say that the hatred some Town and Budgie fans have for one another far outweighs the spite between some bigger clubs. For example Liverpool and Everton fans and Spurs and Arsenal fans.

It may well not be up there in terms of the Glasgow derby but it’s up there.

....load of spotty kids who've read too many Dougie Brimson books and watched Football Factory 250 times.

Just like all the middle aged blokes yearning for the "good old days", when they could guarantee a "tear up" in the town.

Football has changed whatever way you look at it.

Suppose you have to be in the right (or wrong) places at the right time to gauge the proper level of rivalry.

Yarmouth Road is quite lively on the way down as was the City on the Saturday night a couple of weeks back.

Footage of fans getting the football special and going straight to the ground really isn't the most accurate barometer.

I'm not talking about violence. I'm saying that the supposed hatred between the fans doesn't equate to a hostile atmosphere on derby day.

It's certainly not like it was when we used to be able to take anything between 5-8k up there on a Saturday afternoonwith a good 20% of that tanked up and roaming Norwich at will with anything and everything likely to go off.

Now, it is pretty much a load of kids being escorted from station to ground then back again now singing 'Shagging your sister' and 'Scum' from perfect safety from behind police. It is really quite cringeworthy to watch and I've only really seen those vids by accident when I've scrolled on Facebook or somewhere.

There is still an old guard presence on these days but they tend not to film themselves.

As for intensity, fans of all the derbies will claim theirs is the most or one of the most because they have strong feelings and a vested interest towards it. Players view them slightly differently these days too as less and less players have local connections or loyalties to the club they represent.

I think it's still recognised around the country as a big one. Most, if not all, sensible football fans in this country acknowledge it. It's just become a bit watered down with the 12 o/c kick offs, reduced away ticket allocations and latterly some very meh years on the pitch on our part.

In saying that, the home play-off match showed what incredible noise can be generated by just a little bit of interest and excitement.

Saw him do stand-up at the town Hall. He was quite funny.

Where did you go in the afternoon? Did you go in that pub I suggested?
