A used TV for under £500 ?

TVs are dirt cheap these days, why are you not buying brand new?

Why buy a used one for that when you can get a perfectly decent new one for £300-400?

I started a thread a while ago which got the usual very helpful advice:

I know this one has been done on here before but a quick google couldn't find it so here goes.

I'm looking to upgrade my TV, as the current one is rather old. My flat isn't too big so I'm probably limited to a 40 inch screen and HD is obviously a given.

What else should I be thinking about here? Apps, soundbars etc? Budget is £500 or so max.

I've currently got Virgin but I'm sick of paying over the odds to watch a bit of cricket and the odd football match so might get rid of that soon.

This kind of thing looks about right.

Any thoughts? Things I should definitely avoid?

Thanks in advance.

and ended up with one of these which I'm very pleased with:

If you have £500 to spend why not get a new one? There are lots on offer in shops at the moment.

We recently bought a new one for a lot less than that.

Have you thought of factory graded? They are TV's that have been returned for some reason tested/repaired and resold at significantly below original retail. Somewhere like this.

I'm not sure, it has Samsung TV plus which doesn't seem to have a lot on it other than films. Not investigated fully as I've got Virgin so normal TV is through that and there is no aerial input to check.
