Well, I like him 12:30 - Apr 25 with 30530 viewstextbackup

Like what he had to say, seems to know his stuff, and he hasn’t bullsht at all.

That’s all I, we, have wanted for years, there’s nothing there we didn’t know, but he’s spoken.

I’m back on board

I thought he came across really well. Even if he had seen the questions previously.

It sounds like him and his children are passionate about Ipswich Town. He knew a hell of a lot more about the players and other teams than I expected.

We have renewed our season tickets today!

I have to confess we would have renewed anyway and wanted to do it before the Early Bird offer runs out.

One thing to keep in mind is that you have the benefit of hindsight. I'm sure Evans could now look back at exactly what we needed and wish he had given £5m if that's what it had taken.

Which begs the question why didn’t he learn from that mistake?

The following season we were in the playoffs in January, had sold Mings for 8m and we didn’t invest a penny on transfer fees.

Or why when we sold our most important player in murphy a couple of years ago did we replace him with Leon best on a freebie.

But Sears did better than Priskin. Doesn't that tell you a lot?

You’re deliberately ignoring the point I’m making.

Don’t worry - you lot can carry on wetting yourselves because our owner finally spoke and I’ll carry on saying he’s the main problem at the club. In two years time when we get relegated, I expect you all to be rather blaming the manager or waking up and realising our owner is killing the club.

Thought that was how much he was. Apologies if the figure is wrong.

The point is he was happy to let Jewell and Keane waste money but when we had a genuinely good reason for spending (flying high in January), mick got 100k for Sears. That’s it.

That is a very valid point, whoever was advising him at the time got that totally wrong, Was our best chance in years, he wasted enough on Keane and Jewell, a couple of million would probably have seen us over the line at the time.

I will be. Because I’ll be there lot after he’s gone.

Though I imagine I’ll miss the midweek games as I’ll be commuting from Bucks Uni for each game.

We don't know if MM asked for money. He did seem to enjoy being a martyr and repeating how little he had spent. We have no idea if Evans cost us promotion or whether it was MM's pride.

And if we're honest, most of us loved the David vs Goliath narrative too when it was working out well for us.

I think that short of any of us being able to afford to buy him out, which one ex member of TWTD claimed that they could do, we all should have appreciated him.

Certainly not everyone has done a 180.

Yes. That is what I wanted.

So why did he refuse to back the best manager we’ve had in his 10 years?

Any good points I make will have you saying I’m wanting it all handed to me again so I don’t really know why I bother tbh.

All managers have said he is a good owner to work for - it really isn't a case of be careful what you wish for with Evans but better the devil you know.

I think the areas where he should get most stick are the cutting back of things off the field like charitable trust etc as a football club owner he is pretty decent for the thing that matters - giving managers time and backing them, and working with them to be competitive.

His biggest issue is he isn't rich enough to compete, but that shouldn't be a stick to beat him with when he's keeping the club afloat to the tune of £500k a month

Bit of silly word to use when your team has just lost yet again in a semi final don't you think?

Naa I was just suprised to see you say you like him.

How you can love the club as much as you do, hate our last manager as much as you did but ‘like’ the owner who’s the biggest reason we’ve deteriorated as a club in the last 10 years absolutely astounds me Texters.

i'll not even go into the last manager bit, and ive certainly done my bit against the owner.

however after what he had to say its pretty obvious he has the clubs best interests at heart, and cant fund more than he does. frustrating yes, but not much anyone can do about it.

For the record, I never said he hasn’t come across well. He’s done what I expected.

But I just can’t believe people like Texters who had such hatred for our last manager, are wetting themselves over this interview. This is the bloke who, even when we were second in the league in January on a budget of 18th, invested 100k for Sears. If he’d have given Mick 5m that transfer window, we’d have been promoted imo. I can’t forgget that over one interview.

hold up, I've not wet myself (I don't think) that could just be pre cum stains you're talking about as i'm thinking about the 5 point plan working

It is not a wind up.

You clearly stated that you hated ITFC and were rejoicing in the fact that you had turned your son against ITFC and into a Spurs supporter.

Obviously I am also not the only person that remembers it but how about you resurrecting your post so that everyone can be reminded?
