Got to be the worst in living memory, surely?

I know May wasn't dealt a good hand but her attempted power grab last year has effectively left her a hostage to the lunatic fringe of her own party and the DUP. This means that delivering Brexit has gone from bloody difficult to virtually impossible. There was never going to be a way of delivering a Brexit that made most happy but it's looking like the options left on the table aren't palatable to anyone.

Domestically, homelessness and deaths amongst the homeless are massively on the rise. Public services are stretched close to breaking point after 8 years of austerity. Knife crime is on the rise. Child poverty and use of food banks is rife. Universal credit is making life intolerable for the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. The rail network is a bigger sh!t show than ever. The country is horribly divided and the far right are rising. Economic growth is largely based on another credit bubble (that worked well last time) rather than increased productivity.

Tell me again about strong and stable government....

More Tory lies undone. It also looks like the extra £350m a week for the NHS may well be replaced by Brexit leading to net cost rather than net savings. Ace.

I think you forgot Blair lied and sent British soldiers to their death to cover for him and made millions out of it, which by default makes that the worst govenment in living memory.

One point of order the rail network is still better than it was in 70s, British Rail was the worst run of anything ever in this country.

"One point of order the rail network is still better than it was in 70s, British Rail was the worst run of anything ever in this country."

That is patently untrue

Railways now are now far more heavily subsidised that they were in BR’s time – it was value for money!

I agree with your comment.
I am also aware that in the 70's British rail ran the most comprehensive rail network in the world
To give it away the tories had to convince people it wasn't working
Starve it of investment should do the job

I'm sure we could chuck a few Governments in as top candidates! Cameron's would be top for me, primarily because of the Brexit referendum without any follow-through plans.

I swerve political threads on the whole as they are too divisive. This one seems to be a political thread on which Remainers and Brexiteers, Lefties and Righties all seem to be in a rough, general agreement with the OP.

Politics has been so divisive recently. Could May's government unite the country by being so god-awful? Let's all hug and admit we're fecked. Yay!

That's a nice thought, but then the incompetence of the opposition raises it's head and scuppers that plan before it's even off the ground.

Autocratic monarchy anyone? I'd certainly let Meghan Markle order me around.

They should do the same with the NHS. Would make it easier to privatise.
