Foul throw? 13:37 - Nov 19 with 2086 views | GeoffSentence | A number of papers are suggesting that Lingard's goal should not have stood because it was a foul throw, based on this photo What do you think? The laws of the game say this: At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must: - have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline It looks absolutely clear to me that Gomez has his heel on the touchline, and so in accordance with Law 15 , GeoffSentence rules that the throw was valid and that the papers and the muppets on the highlights show last night are ll wrong.

Has the rules changed then? Has always been feet behind the line. If feet are on the line then it is a foul throw as Linguard's were even on the wrong side of the line when he launched...clearly a foul throw. The lino got it wrong...or wasnt doing his job properly.

The OP seems to suggest rules have changed. Would probably still be a foul throw as, at the point of delivery, the heel would be off the ground.

Yup, the whole ball/foot has to be over (as in past) the line in both regards (awarding of goals/throws etc. or calling a foul throw/corner). Due to the shape of spheres this means there can actually be a small gap between the line and where the ball is on the floor. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Really annoys me when fans go mad about the ball not touching the quadrant. It's literally half an inch further forward, it makes no difference.

This is what law 15 says bout foot placement "have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline" so if it is on or behind the touchline it is legal. You whole foot has to be in the field of play for it to be illegal

Would you say that if it were a penalty?

But it's much closer to the goal and more important than a corner?
