With Judge joining the other day, we seem to have a number of really good options in midfield now. Just wondering what people's strongest line up would be ? I'd go for :

Bart
Pennington - Collins - Chambers - Elder

---------- Huws - Skuse - Bishop-------------

----Quaner ------Keane--------Sears------

Subs : Nsiala, Dozzell, Judge, Lankester, Chalobah, Edwards, Gerken

Just shows how far Nolan, Harrison, Jackson are down the pecking order, now a few players have signed and a few quality players have come back from injury.

I think we are just a good right back off having a very competitive side at this level.

Still worried about that defence. Collins is the key and if he goes down we have problems. I know Peng played well last game but i'd like a dedicated RB in there. And a back in confidence Bart would be great but Lambert seems to think he is miles off at the moment.

Agreed ! Collins is absolutely essential to our chances of staying up. His experience and leadership qualities on the pitch are invaluable to us at the moment. CCV would be a good signing, but providing game time would be an issue, as Chambers won't be dropped.

You have gerken in goal and on the bench mate

Seems rather hard on Harrison, not to mention that selections so far leave us short on attack from the bench. Still think he'll come good and that he offers something a bit different.

Which is why Harrison was on the bench Saturday. I think Lambert still sees him as a viable option, albeit perhaps not a starter.

Ideally need another very solid CB plus specialist right back to have much chance of staying up imo. And we'll need a lot of luck either way.

It's not impossible though and stranger things have happened.

Completely agree, especially as the OP hasn't put a striker on the bench so we have no plan B if we need a goal other than some attacking midfielders.

Need Quaner on there for height. Sub for Bishop and put Keane in behind.

I think the midfield and strikers we've had are the main reason we've had defensive issues this season. With better players ahead of them, I reckon they'll be a lot better, with and without collins

Gerken

Pennington
Collins
Chambers
Elder

Skuse
Huws

Judge
Keane
Sears

Quaner

Subs: Bart, Nsiala, Kenlock, Bishop, Downes, Lankester, Harrison

Others: Chalobah, Spence, Knudsen, Dozzell, Nolan, Edwards, Jackson, Roberts,

That's what I think at the moment. Still a bit unclear where he intends to play Judge, as he could play CM in a midfield 3. It's also damning of Hurst's permanent signings.

I feel that Harrison should be up top, as judging by the Rotherham game neither Keane or Quaner are that good in the air and are far less mobile.
Your selected defence looks fairly sound, but both full backs need to attack more to make PL's system work, while Gerken should stay in goal, having just kept a clean sheet.
Your midfield looks attractive, but all three are coming back from injuries (two long term), I think Chalobah deserves to hold his place, with Skuse, Downes/Bishop vying for the other position. Keane to play the number 10 role with Sears completing the line up.
Subs: Bart, Quaner, Lankester, Judge, Knudsen, Nsiala, plus either Downes/Bishop.
I think that the squad is looking far stronger and perhaps a bit more street wise, and with Huws approaching match fitness and new signings improving during match play, we might just be up for the fight?

I think we need to be realistic that Huws is going to need 3-4 games coming off the bench. He's been out for 18 months and will need time to get up to speed. Of course, he is then an automatic starter. I'd have Downes in alongside Skuse for now.

Probably few will agree, but now we've got some decent loans in and Bishop/Huws coming back I think we need Dozzell and Lankester to go out to a League 1 side on loan for the rest of the season. Makes sure they are playing, hides them from prying eyes and gets them some League 1 experience if the worst case happens and we do go down.

Would look to sell Nolan, Jackson and Edwards whilst they still have some residual value from last season - they're not going to make it here.
