Check my IP address Gav.
Just read you think I'm taking the piss.
Pecker wasn't in the bar in PE that I can promise you.
If he was why didnt he reply to my post while I waited for him?

I don't think there's really a reason to be angry at someone pretending.

It is quite funny Pecker actually traveled out of his way in South Africa to disprove what we all knew already.

Board would be poorer without fergal

We were going for a day trip to Port Elizabeth anyway, just changed the day so I could meet Captain Pugwash in the flesh so to speak.

Not angry btw. Nothing on here makes me angry. I'm a grown up!

I'm afraid that if we are damning evidence from Fergal we will need evidence from you too. Photos please!

Don't get me wrong, very grateful you have continued the odd little narrative that is fergal.

Personally speaking, I almost feel I know Port Elizabeth now.

That's another off the list of places to visit.

Now this is slightly weird, I got the train from Entrecampos for Faro this afternoon and at the next stop in Lisbon a Dutch woman gets on and sits next to me (reserved seats with allocated numbers so no choice on her part) and gets out RYA skippering instruction books to read on the journey.

We had a pleasant chat before we settled down to our respective books. Towards the end of the journey she moved to an empty seat on the other side of the train, less glare from the sun. But when she got off in Tunes to change for Lagos (the one in Portugal, not the one in Nigeria) she came over and gave me a wave goodbye, which was nice.

Good of you to stick up for feargal. I think it is not so strange to bump into yachtees in Portugal, slightly less common in South Africa but it was an amusing coincidence given the bogus nature of the OP.

And I resisted the opportunity to say that the Dutch woman changed her tune when she changed at Tunes, didn't I?

I have enough woman trouble at the moment, thank you.

And she was about half my age.

Actually I am starting to worry about myself now you come to point that out.

If she's half your age she'll be more able to run away. Try for one with a gammy leg.

There's a passage in Ulysses along those lines.

Does that make me TWTD's Milo O'Shea?

I wonder how easy Fergal finds it to ignore the threads between pretending to have a signal.

My guess is he has another profile that he posts under. Anyone been able to spot any similarities to one?

Didn't ask, although I did say my Dutch extended to Ayn, twee, Ajaz, Feyenoord and Johaan Cruyff. Other than that it was all talk of sailing and hearing loss - she realised I wasn't being rude when I didn't move out of the way as the train crossed the Tagus (by bridge, I'm not feargal) and she wanted to take photos of the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, just quite deaf.
