Fans of the club at each other's throats with how to deal with the situation. Wanting to support the team, but not wanting to support the Oystons. Fans of 30+ years simply staying away from the ground they religiously visited - sparring with other fans that continued to go. Not great and quite a sad state of affairs.

In fairness to the OP, we are where they were when they got relegated.

The fact we do not have the same issues over ownership of assets such as our ground helps ensure we should not face the same struggles as they do currently but I sure hope we are more like Southampton in a few years than Coventry or Portsmouth.

A long-term plan built around bringing through players and a style of football regardless of who the manager is will help but there are other things that need to be put right such as: preventing injuries and recruitment policy.

We aren't where they were, they were already having huge issues with ownership at that point.

Southampton had money and a plan, we won't be them sadly.

There must be a ceiling to what can be achieved with no proper football structure in place and such minimal off field investment. Need to speculate a bit to acumulate - just look up the road.
