No away goal rule in the Play Offs - otherwise West Brom would have gone through last night.

Indeed, not even after extra time.

Indeed. Sheepshanks petitioned against it after we lost to Bolton in 1999, arguing that it's unfair the lower placed team plays the 2nd leg away from home and has 30 minutes more of extra time to score an away goal.

Arguably the rule could be away goals count 'double' up until full time but not during/after extra time.

Wasn't he also instrumental in parachute payments to ease the financial burden of relegation because we struggled to honour the contracts and stay solvent? His motives were good but it always came too late to actually help us.

thy didn't always listen to Sheepy. He wanted to accept an offer from the Premier League to link the TV money Division 1 (Championship) clubs received to the money Premiewrship teams received.

Had this been the case the financial gulf between the two leagues would be a lot smaller than it is now.

As I say, he always wanted what was best for the clubs in our situation. Unfortunately, the changes he got were usually too late for us.
