Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia 09:12 - May 17 with 1726 viewsSwansea_Blue

On IDAHOBIT Day, it's worth taking a moment to remember that 72 countries and territories still criminalise same sex relations between consenting adults, and in 11 of those it's punishable by death.

We're lucky that a lot of progress has been made in this country, but here's a few things we could all do to help make the world a better place:

- seek to challenge our own stereotypes
- practice inclusive behaviours
- seek education and information for ourselves
- support friends, loved ones and colleagues from the LGBT community
- actively challenge biophobia when you encounter it. Interrupt derogatory language, offensive comments and "banter" when you hear it to let people know it's not ok.

Only if that's the lane that you're driving in.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Or how about they act like normal people and stop making their sexuality a big deal, no one cares what they do, it’s up to them, just stop jamming it down our throats.
When is heterosexual day then

I imagine that there'll be a heterosexual day at the point at which hetrosexual people have suffered years of persecution and discrimination for the sake of their sexuality.

" as of 2018, there are 72 countries that still criminalize same-sex activity, and at least 38 of these nations were once under the British colonial rule (Han and O’Maloney, 2018). This is over 50% of the countries. Thus, other colonizers did not leave as prominent of a legacy for criminalization of same-sex activity as the British did."

i blame the victorians. with their steam engines and table leg fetishisms.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Ah, makes you proud to be part of the Empire's legacy. Maybe this is the greatness some people want to return to?

Anyone making an issue of there not being a heterosexual pride day/month/march, would do well to read about how people in same-sex relationships over there are sometimes treated. No doubt some don't get much better treatment in the UK.
