Biggest attendances this weekend in cup 08:44 - Nov 11 with 1494 viewsitfcjoe

1 - Ipswich v Lincoln - 11,598
2 - Sunderland v Gillingham - 7,892
3 - Bolton Wanderers v Plymouth - 6,992
4 - Blackpool v Morecambe - 5,371

Everything else below 4,000.

Probably another reason why the selection policy is annoying, and not a good way to keep the fans onside who are turning out in good numbers.

It's almost like the club themselves are surprised (still) by the interest in the FA Cup. It was only a fairly late decision to open the South Upper when it became clear the attendance was going to be better than expected.

The big question is - who will Lincoln play in the second round?

.....it'll be live on TV, they'll win and get a massive money spinner against a premier league team in the 3rd round.

In the summer they'll use the windfall to outbid us for a bang average player that we spend months trying to sign.

But at least our players will be well rested for the Oxford match this weekend.

They make a big play of the 78 win for every tie, quite rightly, and then we limp out.

Last year, when we were basically already down on the 40th anniversary we should have given it a go - could have salvaged some pride from an awful season with a couple of lucky draws (including Accrington tie which we should have won)

A bit chicken and egg

Are the club getting in wrong by not caring when our fans are going against trend and caring about the FA Cup?

Are the fans out of touch by caring about the FA cup when other clubs and fans don't?

It's what Mr McCarthy would have wanted.

The fact we got 4k more than Sunderland speaks volumes.... Sunderland also played their first team.

It's particularly galling when we don't have a league game for two weeks and ironic that we end up with the last thing we probably wanted - a trip up to Lincoln for a replay.
