My son was born a month after we won the play offs 15:44 - Mar 1 with 1668 viewsGlasgowBlue

When he was seven I told him he’d see us in the Premier league before he went to High school.

When he was in high school I promised him a day at Wembley in the play offs before he went to Uni. In fairness we nearly got there.

When we were relegated last season I told him we’d have an exciting season in League One challenging for the top spot.

A couple of weeks ago I said that top two looks out of reach but at least we’d have that day out at Wembley that I’d been promising him for years.

20 years of giving my boy false hope.

I’ve seen us win the FA Cup, the UEFA Cup and challenge for the title whilst he’s had twenty years of utter dross. How thoroughly depressing.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Know exactly how you feel.. my youngest came out of hospital the night Marcus Stewart took Southampton apart and he spent his first night at home cuddled up with me watching live on Sky. Apart from a semifinal against Arsenal thats about as good as its got for him.

Seb is seven on Saturday. I won’t be promising him anything about seeing Town succeed.

My 5 year old daughter joined the junior blues this season, I was really excited for her, she was too. I took her to meet James Norwood and Kayden Jackson, she loved it! I then took her to her first game against Doncaster, we all know how good that was......

She’s losing interest now and I don’t want to tell her the scores when I get home.

Please promise him he will never ever see us in the Championship in the next two years, in the Premier League this decade, at Wembley nor in Europe ever again. Promise him he will never see us win a trophy. Make him those promises now, please.

When we lost to Man City in the Semi-final in 81 I remember my father being surprised but assuring me we'd do better the next year.

Still waiting...

1985 was the year we should have reached the FA Cup final. Had Steve McCall not carried out a mad, bad challenge and got sent off we'd have held on at Everton.

We'd have taken Luton in the semi-final and who knows what would have happened against Manchester United in the final. We had a very good record against tbem in the mid 80s.

How thoroughly depressing......Dear Glassers it's going to be even worse. Surely it wont' get any better as long as Evans owns the club. League Two is a matter of time I'm afraid.

Nice to watch the game with you yesterday. Good for you that you decided to leave after Sears had missed one v one as a few seconds later I saw our defence doing sod all to prevent their later winner.

Good to see you yesterday Mach. Watched the final couple of minutes down by the corner flag. Which made the Sears miss look even worse.

Funnily enough I’m in the exact same position as your son, was born a month after the playoff final as well and my dad keeps telling me that eventually we’ll see some resemblance of good times again, I’d be lying if I wasn’t jealous whenever he mentions seeing us win the FA Cup or going to see the UEFA Cup final second leg though!

It’s hard to even pinpoint a highlight of following Ipswich to be honest but I’m convinced that all the dross we’ve put up with for the last 10 years will make any moment of glory absolutely euphoric but hard to see where it might come from at the moment, still hoping I’ll see us at Wembley before I’m 30 fingers crossed!

Ftnfwest jnr was born the day Wilnis scored against Man Utd . He’s still keeping the faith somehow. Enjoys the day out more than anything else tbh
