What’s being lost in this discussion is that if there was an emergency fund set up then people with the symptoms would self quarantine rather than going into work because they need the money.
That would help contain the virus which in turn would benefit the economy.
problem with that level of safety net is that many will kick the rear out of it....

I know why they do this, but it does make me laugh when businesses are way more concerned with you working than you spreading a virus than could knock out the whole work force for 2 weeks.
Same to a far lesser extent with people coming in to work with colds then giving it to everyone around them because they want to show everyone what a good little worker they are.

To be fair at my place people are told not to come in if they are in any way ill and WFH instead,.
