What's the 441 absent mean?

Sorry, I'm not on the ball today.

Surely that's not staff numbers.

441 is the number of staff absent from the hospital.
Over 4,000 staff work at the hospital.

Presumably ranging from specialists, doctors and nurses etc to cleaners and canteen staff.

It would not be overly surprising if there was a higher rate of absence among those at greater risk of infection too - i.e. those involved in treating the infected.

We've just been told one of our students lost their gran to it this week at some point.

Whoever was taken away in an ambulance the other day on my street has not returned yet, no one knows anything yet.

On a weirder tangent a Brazilian guy I know put up a tribute to a friend back home on Facebook. So it feels as the days pass the connection as it were is getting a bit closer.

All the best to your daughters on the front line TP.

One of our ED registrars has been home a couple of days after being hospitalised with it. It's pretty real, right now.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I'm sorry to hear that sad news
The youngest person who has died was only 29.
One of my daughters is on the frontline, the other is dealing with daily emergency operations.
Thank you

Should you have given away that they were 36 year old twins working as vascular surgeons. I don't know if this information is sensitive or not, but if it is and should not have been released that description will give the game away if anyone from the hospital should stumble across it.

I don’t think that’s exactly accurate. I know for a fact that some, maybe all NHS employees at Ipswich hospital have been antibody tested.

Just wondering how many of the 441 staff absentees have not been infected, but, due to lack of testing for NHS staff, they have to self isolate just in case.
Sorry, did mean to say that if they show any symptoms, that they have to self isolate.

Understood now, my apologies. - I am very surprised that there’s been tests in Suffolk but not Essex.

Hoping everybody’s family and friends stay safe and well.
