Good side that. Just lacks a tall hold-up striker. Have we had a Scot of that ilk?

On second thought, I suppose you could just stick Warky up there!

I'd have had Burchill rather than Scotland as sub

That Scottish team would beat the best of the Irish teams that we had recently, I think.

Putting together a Town welsh team from memory would be hard. We will obviously have had enough players to do it, but some might be lost in the mist of time, and/or not featured much when they were actually here.

If anyone wants to have a go, I give you Elsworthy, Lea and Edwards for starters, and Lewis Price as a goalie (you might be able to think of a better one).

Here's all the Welsh players - over to someone else to pick a team...

Keepers:
Lewis Price, Michael Crowe, Adam Przybek

Defenders:
Troy Brown, Danny Collins, James Collins, Elliot Hewitt, Andy Legg, Ben Thatcher, James Wilson, Josh Yorwerth

Midfielders:
Billy Baker, Christopher Barnard, Jack Collison, Gwion Edwards, John Elsworthy, Emyr Huws, Cyril Lea, Trevor Morris, William Reed, Gavin Williams, Geraint Williams, Jackie Williams, Jonathan Williams

Forwards:
Ellis Harrison, Mick Hill, Tom Lawrence, Keifer Moore, Aled Owen, Derek Rees

Edit: (Obviously, that wasn't done from memory!!)

I think I'm right in saying that Billy Reed - a flying winger in the early 50's
was the first Ipswich player to get capped by his country

Any Town Scottish 11 without Danny Hegan is wrong.

Although from Scotland, he played for N.Ireland. Tremendous entertainer though. Very few after him come close on that score: Thijssen, Woods, Petta (on a good day).

But was a USA international, so I left him out for the same reason I left Hegan out.
