Marcus Rashford 09:21 - Jun 7 with 1221 views | eastangliaisblue | Sorry if this has been posted already. Only just found out that during lockdown, Marcus Rashford has raised 20 million pounds. He has teamed up with a food charity to raise it, which has now fed over 2.8 million children with meals. Well done that man.

Ah - the mysterious daveU doesn't think raising that sort of sum for charity doesn't deserve recognition. Best rescind another knighthood recently given then.

That’s an odd comment. I think the chances of a high profile, successful sportsperson who also does massive charitable work *not* getting recognised during his lifetime are slim to none. He is a prime candidate.

It's not such an odd comment. Both are acts of humility. But one happened to be someone who would tick the boxes of our populist government's core support of True Patriots. If anyone thinks Sir Tom Moore was knighted solely for his fundraising efforts, they're as daft as a brush. Obviously they are both amazing efforts though, irrespective of the difference in political exploitation.

Indeed. It's a complete disgrace that children in the fifth biggest economy in the world have to be given charity hand outs to eat. I didn't really want to get into that, was just highlighting what Rashford has done.
