The only issue with the split being at Shenfield is that technically places Harlow into North Essex - and Harlow is one of the worst places in the country.
If you make the split at Chelmsford then you can draw a line which has Harlow in the South Essex.
Plus Shenfield is effectively a suburb of Brentwood and Brentwood is definitely London spillover. |

I think we should be allowed to move borders with other counties for places as well. I'd extend the Essex/Suffolk border to East Bergholt (it even has a Colchester postcode) which would also mean we get Higham, Stoke by Nayland and Bures as well as most of the Dedham Vale (even though Dedham's in Essex anyway). We'll also have the Shotley Peninsular. In return, Suffolk can have Cambridge to the west and Diss, Swaffham and Fakenham to the north. |  |

Surrey was my first thought. All those nothing towns... Redhill, Woking, Dorking, Kingston etc.
Then I thought of Merseyside - just a giant toilet.
And Yorkshire; a great place utterly spoilt by Yorkshire fowk. |
Add Camberley, Farnham and Frimley, where my company's UK head office is to that list. On the other hand, outside of the shlt towns there is some lovely countryside in Surrey, just a shame it is so thickly populated with all those stockbrokers and wotnot. |  |

Berkshire is a good shout. Honourable mentions for Buckinghamshire (Wycombe is a dump) and Bedfordshire (Luton FFS) as well. Counties beginning with B are probably best avoided it seems. |
