Why is Marcus persevering with PL? 10:30 - Jul 20 with 4172 views | Chocorange | If anyone needs a reminder of how strongly Ipswich fans felt about Lamberts ineptitude , take a look at Alex GRiffin’s video on you tube of the Portsmouth v ipswich game last season, watch the match highlights (such a season they are) , enjoy a team selection with Norris Nsiala Judge etc , and then go to 13mins onwards to be reminded of just how badly Lambert did... made me shudder. So why is he still here? At a time when when salary cap is seemingly coming this season or next which means the bigger teams will have no income advantage , we must get out of league 1, before the trapdoor closes and we are stuck here for ever. So why trust that important task to a manager with his record here over a season and a half? There’s not been any green shoots of progress or year on year progress... we are going backwards...too easy to blame Hurst when Lambert has been here 5 or 6 times as long. His PR skills at getting the crowds back will not work any more. Evans will see crowds and income reduce hugely ( even without a Covid effect) , if more of the same the same is served up next season , and the season after does not bare thinking about. So why ?

Terry Connor was the manager of Wolves when they went down.

Why is Marcus persevering with PL? on 10:58 - Jul 20 by itfcjoe | He's obviously very good at managing upwards, not hard to understand why as is good at getting people onside. He's had a long managerial career, so clearly knows what he is doing to some extent, but I fear it will be another wasted season with him here. I just hope (and pray!) he settles down to something and sticks with it - go back to what we tried when he first came in of playing through the back, one up front, wide forwards pushing on in behind etc, just give us some identity and if that fails then so be it, we are failing with no identity currently |
Well said Joe. I hope that Lambert can turn it around, as that can only be a good think. I don't think he will, but I hope he does. lambert is going to be here for at least half a season, so hopefully he can find a system and stick with it. No more changing every game for changes sake. Come on Lambert, prove some, if not most of us wrong. Make us into L1 champions next season.

Yes he was, MM had left a week or so before it was confirmed, then TC took them down. Remember his interview on MOTD, close to tears he was

McCarthy was screwed by the owners, he’d worked miracles there for half a decade then the board refused to invest properly after he had sold a few players. I think it was the season before that Mick actually had them topping the table for a few weeks, very short sighted of the club, especially when you consider what happened to the, after. Not too dissimilar to what we’re now experiencing.

Cast your mind back to Mick's last two seasons with us and you'll remember the apathy and outright hostility some parts of the fan base held towards him, yet Evans persisted with him and got his puppet Ian Milne to tell us to 'stick with Mick'. Barring Magilton, Evans has only ever acted when relegation became a serious possibility. Evans has heard the moans and groans of supporters for years and a few chants of ''Evans/Manager Out'' or just a general toxic atmosphere at PR won't be enough for him to dispose of a manager. I'd wager even a dodgy start to next season (whenever it starts) will not be enough for Evans to get rid due to a multitude of reasons including COVID, contract clauses and compensation, and suffering a serious blot on his record for having been the one to offer Lambert a 5 year contract.

Stoke were done when he took over and he got them playing. Speak to a stoke - plenty wanted him kept to take them up. They just drew too many. I think they had two killer equalisers against them deep into injury time and they just went down. He really nearly kept them up. Its very easy to say he took them down (same as with us) but both has a similar context. This season was a terrible end and he failed in his job. All the re-writing of history to paint him as a dreadful manager is just dishonest. His stats are decent except the stoke ones where he wasnt there long. On his first full season with us he's very lucky to keep his job in my opinion. He's not useless though and as he's not going i'll get behind him and the team and go again. Can't start how he finished though.
