Out for 62, caught, and there was me studiously trying to counteract any potential commentators' curses!

I love it when broad gets going with the bat. That was magnificent. Game changing potentially. Looking forward to seeing us bowl today.

Cricket - good start from England then on 12:09 - Jul 25 by gainsboroughblue | 30 odd average in FC cricket. Can't really see how can you. I think he's only got into double figures a couple of times. |
He got 23 in the first Test of this series. And that after a big collapse in the Saturday evening. I went out for a walk when England were eight down this morning expecting the last two to follow quickly. Could be crucial those extra runs especially with wickets falling regularly the rest of the day. WI 77/5 now.

I did for Stokes yesterday in our cricket whatsapp group! Batting like a God and then bang...... Broad makes me chuckle. His father was a wonderful batter but Stuart has done him again! 3rd fastest 50 by an England batter. Awesome bowling by England. All the seamers looked very tidy indeed.

It was a good day for sure. The game has moved on which it needed to as the risk of rain is very high. That and the threshold for bad light was established on day one.

Given that the forecast is iffy for Manchester tomorrow & Monday looks lie a wash out, it might be difficult for England to force a win if the Windies avoid the follow-on.

This windies side look exhausted and not surprising given the nature of this tour. I think we bat again, knock off a quick 150 and then take them apart. I’m most looking forward to seeing what Cornwall is like as a batsman. I’d like to see him middle a few. Stuart Broad will be a long time missed when he's gone. He’s an all time great.

Broad is massive underrated. Yes never hit the heights we thought in his early years 08-12 with the bat but as a bowler and someone getting lower order runs he is superb. If Anderson was not around it would be Sir Stuart Broad.

Agree on the fatigue point. The batters look like they were just waiting to get out. There was no urgency in their running or desire to rotate the strike. Dot balls are death by a thousand cuts...(am I allowed to say that without my groupies descending?) It's been a bit of a habit from England to lose the first test and then kind of 'wake-up'

Interesting stat on TMS - he's taken a wicket in the first over in 5 out of 8 Tests in Manchester, plus another at Headingley. In other news - TMS eventually realised Pope was bowled by the Archangel Gabrial ... Plus -

There should be a statue of Broad ready for his retirement, which is hopefully many years away. He is a legend and right up there with Anderson.

Absolutely, the lucky barstewards! Listening to TMS at OT, the absence of a crowd is hardly noticeable to me, but watching the highlights on Beeb 2 in the eves, the lack of atmos becomes all too sadly obvious. Even more than usual, TGF TMS 👋

Watching on TV, I think the lack of crowd has been most apparent wth boundaries - that ripple of applause is missing. Also, at the end of a day when the crowd is a little drunk is normally entertaining. It's going to be a real pity that Broad will get to 500 wickets, now on 497, without a crowd. I was there for Anderson's 500th and it was a great moment.

Cricket - good start from England then on 14:09 - Jul 26 with 2554 views | Ryorry | That poor keeper! From BBC live text updates: "7.2 overs Eng 15-0 Shannon Gabriel sends down another fierce 90mph that climbs sharply past Rory Burns and ends up hitting Shane Dowrich straight in the face. A nasty moment and the Windies keeper stays down for a while before getting up to be escorted off the field by the physio." "14:05 Post update It hit Shane Dowrich in the left cheek. He was very stoic getting up and calmly walking off, but that must've been agony. It was actually also a no ball by Shannon Gabriel. Shai Hope will likely be taking over behind the stumps now."

I doubt the fact that it was a No Ball made a difference to Dowritch. There was talk of giving the gloves to Hope and batting him at 6. Let's see how he does.

There's the declaration, 399 to win. Does feel like a couple of uber's too late but the light is a lot better tonight so twenty minutes or so to get a wicket tonight.
