Reliant on the new ball now. Been a good session from England until now.

Cricket - good start from England then on 18:09 - Jul 24 with 3916 views | hampstead_blue | A good piece by Nasser about a fault with Buttler's footwork in the previous test. He noted that he's moved to point his front foot toward the line of the shot, not just plated. Interesting as this is a fundamental coaching point taught to young batters. Amazing that the fundamentals still hold true. Pope looks like an England player for a very long time. Class and the future #4.
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Really good partnership between those two, 258/4 is a whole lot better than it might have been. Hoprfully the weather stays good, this series deserves to finish with a competitive match.

It has been a great recovery from England however WI need to step it up and remove one of these two...

It’s been a really good and intriguing contest. Pleasing that the WI now seem to be getting their act together in test cricket, just so good for the international game.

They need to find a keeper, this guy’s been a clown in the last two tests. Looks like a frightened schoolboy behind the stumps.

Possibly, but it’s tough to keep wicket in our conditions when the ball is moving and you’ve got limited experience of it. Perhaps he could do with some time signing for a county side and playing here for a summer?

Today & tomorrow the forecast is iffy for Manchester. The bad light pedants now called umpires might have their say. Monday loos a complete washout so unless the game moves on quickly in the next 2 days, a draw is likely. At least it's been a competitive series.

I honestly don’t think he’d get in a county side. His confidence is obviously shot to bits but even his routine catching technique looks poor. Lancs or Yorks league cricket might do him the world of good. [Post edited 25 Jul 2020 10:00]

You could be right and I’m certainly not disagreeing, but I’d like to see him have a consistent run of games in our conditions and see how he fairs, I’m sure you’ll see a big improvement in his glove work. Just watched the cricket debate on Sky Sports and Alec Stewart was saying Andy Flower asked him how to catch and keep wicket in our conditions. Now Flower was a top international player, so you know if someone like him is asking for help it’s a tough job if you aren’t used to it. [Post edited 25 Jul 2020 10:38]

Dowrich has been much better for WI in the past, although has clearly struggled in the last two Tests.

Yeah. No real bad thing. Given the weather outlook, it looks essentially like a 4 day test so we need the game to move on to get a result. Circa 300 then get bowling in what sounds like decent conditions is fair enough.

Going off for bad light yesterday when both sides wanted to stay out there was shocking & highlighted the stupidity of that new reg. - when both teams agree, it should be their call. Quite likely cost Pope his C too.

Archer is an interesting one for me, he’s meant to be a bowler who can bat, but he looks like a walking wicket and should come in at No.11. Broad and Anderson give me more confidence they can score runs than him.

30 odd average in FC cricket. Can't really see how can you. I think he's only got into double figures a couple of times.

He’s certainly not as bad as Phil Tufnell or Devon Malcolm with a bat, but he never gives the impression he is going to be hanging around for long. Pointless having him coming in at 8 or 9.

Yes, probably Caddick the best out of that lot, he was a bit of a chancer from what I remember and bats like Broad does now, sometimes it comes off and other times it didn’t. However, the other 3 were absolute rabbits!!! 😂 [Post edited 25 Jul 2020 12:23]
