Is there a chance he is being signed to play CB rather than striker?

No

Lambert is lining him up to play left wing back.

I think the fact he can play as a Striker or Centre Back makes him more attractive to Lambert. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him feature for us at the back on occasions if we do of course sign him.

He actually featured at CB more often than he did up top for Portsmouth last season.

You say that, but this article might suggest otherwise -

https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/latest-pompey-news/rea

"Both the manager and Oli believe that he can be a really effective and top centre-half.

'I personally think he can be a top centre-half in this league, I really do, and we need him around.

'He just seems a bit of a natural there.

'The sheer size of him in terms of winning the first header, it's so important winning the first headers from goal-kicks, winning the first header from corners.

'His distribution is excellent, he doesn’t get ruffled at all.

‘And knowing Oli very well, he believes in himself there, which is very, very important.

'He believes in himself deep down in any position, to be fair, but I just see him being very, very comfortable there."

Why on earth would that be the case? He's a decent striker at this level with exactly the kind of physical presence we've been missing.

Because as above, and after reading a couple of articles, he's played CB numerous times and seems to have considered that being a better position for him.

In no way, shape or form is Ollie Hawkins considered a better centre back than striker, Jesus wept.

Kenny Jackett thought that was a possibility. I only posed the question.

Except by his actual manager at an actual football club?
But I have no idea, maybe you know best.

Pure b0llocks.

I haven't seen the quote from Jackett, so I don't know the context of it, but it really is complete rubbish.

You'll understand once you've seen him play a bit.

Libbers, take some deep breaths mate. You're getting back to previous levels of annoyance at nothing at all.

Oh right, well rest assured I'm sat here cool as a cucumber, still firm in the belief that it's complete b0llocks that Ollie Hawkins is a better defender than attacker :')
