...and there are so many cyclists going by. I can handle the silly clothes and ostentatious displays of wealth but do they really have to shout so much. Isn't there a law about this stuff so I can alert the relevant authorities?

What do most people spend on a car? And how did you manage to do a valuation of their bikes as they rode past?

And does it matter either way?

Well said, if your not into cycling you’ve probably got no idea of the value of a bike. Sounds like pure jealousy of people having a good time.

Not sure Bankster was being all that serious. That said, there are a few "all the gear, no idea" cyclists around, same as many hobbies I guess.

I'd also add that 99% of car drivers are very polite. Far more than I expected tbh.

Cycling dress code as taught to me when I joined a club in the mid-70s:
- club rides, group training and racing: club colours
- any other time, eg, social rides, or solo training: bright, non-branded, non-pro-team clothing

Modern amendments:
- front and rear LED lights at all times, brighter ones after dusk
- no Rapha or vintage gear, unless you are a vintage/classic bike rider/racer
- never wear all black clothing without lights

Road rules:
- always respect other road users, even if they're idiots
- never, ever assume the other road user will give way to you

All black gear and no lights is all the rage these days. Trends over life - bloody half wits the lot of them. Luckily I’m still in my gear from over 20 years ago when it was all a bit more dayglow!

And don’t get me started on electric bikes. Fkn ridiculous. Just buy a scooter you chumps.

Do you live on a velo stage?

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

What's the issue/deal with Rapha?

Just a personal thing about Rapha - I don't mind people spending loads of money on bikes, clothes, etc, I just wish many of them would learn that you can't ride a bike like they drive their cars!

You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....
