Boris Johnson may remove the whip from dissenting Tory MPs this week 15:34 - Sep 14 with 5933 viewstractordownsouth

if they decide to reject his internal markets bill and implement the Withdrawal Agreement in its' original form.

The same Boris Johnson that last year won an election campaign on his promise to implement the Withdrawal Agreement and made every Tory candidate sign up to do the same

The thing to do is to get involved directly and help be prepared for the next opportunity which presumably is May next year.

Far better than, as some do, going on an social media campaign. Change will not happen just by belittling people on here. This isn’t aimed at you, nor any one person in particular. Joe had the right idea, get involved . Wonder if he followed that through.

There is not much needs doing at the moment, bar giving Johnson as much free rein as possible.

Whatever happens with this bill it will not alter the total chaos that will hit the ports from the first few days of January - even if the best deal possible is suddenly struck.

"With the UK leaving the customs union and the single market on 1 January, it means that border disruption could ensue whether or not the UK secures a trade deal with the EU."

a worthy read which highlights what is coming, like it or not - even brexiteers might then finally grasp what they have done

The bill will get torn to shreds in the Lords and may end up getting amended to water down its power. They will claim it's remainers thwarting them. They further the culture war and keep people distracted from their incompetent handling of Covid for a while longer. This government doesn't think much beyond the next news cycle.

Let's hope you're right re the HoL - about time they stood up & earned their keep.

I expect the idea all along has been to trade off some of the more loony parts of this Bill, with the EU ripping up some of its rules to get 'get the deal done'.

Unfortunately, as some one who has never been weighed down with the burdens of intellect Johnson went along with this. Deluding himself that this Baldrick level of a cunning plan would confound all his critics, and from the dung heap of political failure he would spring once more smelling only of the latest fabric conditioner.

Alas it was not to be, as without the slightest grasp of any of the implications he has exposed his ignorance. as much as Delboy does when exercising his command of the French language.

He will find it hard to row back from this one. Whatever criticism he still will face for putting up such a Bill. It will be the glaringly obvious exposure on Monday where he didn't have a clue about it which will damn him.

The days of bellowing out jingoistic nonsense like some WW1 recruiting sergeant outside the drill hall won't work any more either. The media will already have smelt blood. Ask him to explain what the Bill is supposed to achieve they will tell each other. never mind pointing out the obvious deceit of winning an election through the use of blatant lies.

So Mr Johnson, did you know you were telling lies, or were you so stupid that you didn't even understand what you were claiming ?

Either way it doesn't look good, does it fat boy ?
