Is anyone bothering with iFollow tomorrow? 12:11 - Oct 16 with 5266 viewsWeWereZombies

I have at least had an email acknowledging my claim form EFL Digital following last Saturday's fiasco but nothing more in five days. I have no confidence that they will be able to supply an adequate, or any, broadcast of the game against Accrington. Just sent a follow up email asking for a response (not unreasonable seeing as I got a chat message from them during the game promising a refund - and it was a real struggle to even get the chat to work) but I doubt if I will hear anything before three o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

Oh well, there is Hearts v Dundee on BBC Scotland at seven thirty this evening so maybe I will just make do with that as my live football fix for the weekend.

I've never had an issue with iFollow. Don't know if that's pure good luck or just a function of not being old. I will watch tomorrow if I'm at home but might go out for a walk if the weather is decent.

I'm a pensioner and have never had a problem watching Town on iFollow. Can I suggest that it's a bad workman that blames his tools and the problem is not iFollow.

You don't by any chance have a VPN enabled all the time for your general browsing do you?

I'm a long way from being Tech savvy but so far i have not had a problem and have watched every game . Bit annoying last week though as my son text me "Yes get in Chambo" a full 2 minutes before i watched it "Live" last week !!

Video is fine, used to have issues with audio only.

Have to say I've had no troubles this season since they upgraded to the new iFollow app.

The previous Ipswich-badged app used to buffer a lot and/or picture pixelated frequently, or the app would just crash. But the new app seems to have eradicated all of that.

If I was to pick a fault, sometimes the audio and video are slightly out of sync, but that's it.

No, just a Chromebook with no modifications or, if that fails, an Android smartphone.

If you're using a Chromebook have you tried using the app through it rather than the website (I am sure you have).

I haven't but I don't like to get too app heavy, to be honest by now I have had so much conflicting advice I am resigned to not seeing the game, losing my tenner from last week and settling for the comfort of Hearts v Dundee live tonight and a couple of hours in the Chat room (which will be more up to date with events than iFollow anyway) tomorrow afternoon and then the highlights on here when they appear.

It doesn’t seem to work through the Xbox.

I don't understand why people get so defensive about iFollow, and have to attack those having issues. 400mbps broadband, newly built PC / new TVs / new phones. When you download files at over 30MB/s, flick Netflix on and get 4K video, then turn that all off and pay your tenner to watch the town on a janky website that's like a maze to navigate, and just get a spinning circle or a frozen screen - it's a tad frustrating!

I really do think it is luck of the draw which server you end up connected to, as it's not always rubbish, and would explain some people saying they have success after refreshing a few times or trying a myriad of different browsers - the point is you shouldn't have to do that on any service you pay for! As I said last weekend was fantastic (though may have been rose tinted due to the result..). I'll be trying again this weekend and keeping my fingers crossed!

Rant over - it was whoever indirectly called me "old" further up the page that did it. Like David Brent, "I'm in my 30s, fact" f*** it I'm still posting this despite knowing some whippersnapper is going to reply with "ok boomer" :-)

You have put the whole issue with iFollow far better than I have, I just hope someone from EFL Direct or ITFC/Marcus Evans is reading this thread and realises that they are going to start to lose big chunks of revenue if they allow this situation to continue.

Doubtful.

It’s a layer 8 issue (user error) and not the platform. I have used the website and a VPN from Cambridge for 3 years now and it has not missed a beat (despite having to send the match over to the USA and then back to me.

But how do you explain fact I’ve been able to do the same, and have absolutely no issues - but have tried on 2 laptops and not be able to get it to work at all?

I’m not Massively techy, but able to get it working with VPN on one computer, but not on any browser on 2 separate laptops

That doesn't explain why sometimes it works for the user and sometimes it doesn't. And why all other streaming and video applications work and iFollow doesn't. In simple terms - iFollow is not robust.

I had an issue the last few weeks ago on my laptop with clicking 'watch live' and only getting a black screen with the spinning circle but my main PC was fine Turns out I had to update win 10 on laptop as there was a small security update needed. It stopped me watching ifollow on edge/firefox and chrome.
Also I tend to set the quality to 720 not auto as that stops the sound issues half way through the game

Whilst I appreciate not everyone is tech savvy and the like but it amazes me the number of posts here suggesting iFollow does not work, or your codes no not work or it buffers etc.

I have used the system for the past 3 years with not so much as a blip in quality or the ability to log on from here just up the road so what I am doing differently to everyone else?

The difference is you're doing it right.

Just in case anyone is still bothering with iFollow I was sent an email (at 17:19 on Saturday when I asked for some advice on Friday about what might help me watch a match that started at 15:00...) that included a link to a rudimentary help sheet - I had already done all of the things they suggest during the first half of the Rochdale game well before their 'Chat' decided to reply to me:

Hopefully you can get it sorted (if you can still be bothered).

I do see that your OS+Browser combo isn't actually supported by iFollow. It didn't work on your phone either right?

Curiously this supposedly unsupported combo did work for me as expected for the Fulham game, and loaded at half time and then worked for the entire MK Dons game (which meant forsaking the TWTD chat room so that the 'thrill' of a 'live' match was not lost to me because of the occasional comment in the chat room about the actual game that was going on). As has been alluded to by a few posters earlier in this thread it is more likely that whether iFollow works depends on the server they run the feed through to get to you. This may explain why viewers closer to Ipswich experience fewer difficulties, they all get routed through the reliable server and the rest of us are thrown to the vagaries of technical expertise and other traffic on the line.

I agree that even though they haven't listed it as supported it definitely should work.

Not sure that explanation works either, it's been working for people abroad for years and they aren't close to Ipswich.

I hope they manage to get it sorted though so you can watch. I can fully understand it must be frustrating - they don't seem to care about the user or the matchday experience.

Similar experience, have watched since iFollow was launched, including dodgy VPN connections. This season, have got two blank screens, no feedback from the EFL Digital. Unfortunately I will no longer be parting with £10 for each game as I find it stressful trying to get the video to play for an hour or so.

Running off an hdmi cable from my pc or laptop to my tv has been pretty decent (dodgy camera work aside). My understanding is that a one of the biggest issues they have seen on the sign up process is the need for card details even for those with a code making it free.

As instructed, I used my code a couple of days before the game and while going through the process of ordering I clicked ‘Use Previous Payment Method’ which then clicked straight through to payments and didn’t give me chance to put in the code. I then had to go back and repeat the process and then it came up with an issue saying the code had been used when it couldn’t have been. But got confirmation I have the game ordered. Now have the wait for them to sort the credit out as they are snowed under with billing issues.

That said, watched the game fine and seem to have quite a lot of the Saturday back despite still watching the game, not the same, but better than nowt.
