Pubs now allowed to sell takeaway beer in lockdown on 08:47 - Nov 5 by textbackup | so that's just a piss poor excuse to get out of exercising then. summer bodies are made in the winter. nothing better than a 5am wake up, cold and horrible, then hammer a workout to wake u up ready for the day |
You seem oddly determined to miss the point based on your own outlook. Its great that you take that approach, but doesn't change the fact that most people don't. Not everyone chooses to exercise to get ripped, for a lot of people it is something they need to enjoy, or even to be encouraged to do. [Post edited 5 Nov 2020 9:08]

Pubs now allowed to sell takeaway beer in lockdown on 09:45 - Nov 5 with 895 views | giant_stow | I think we're probably going to keep going to park after school for a bit of footy, but the Sunday organised footy is off. I just had a thought though, will the police turn up at that park and fine us all? Sitting ducks I guess, but some things are more important than legalities.

not at all, I find it frustrating when excuse get in the way for actually doing something. an easy get out IMO. "its cold, I wont jump on the bike today" "its raining, I cant take the kid out to kick about in that" catch my drift and for the record, I most certainly am not ripped, too showy all that!

Pubs now allowed to sell takeaway beer in lockdown on 22:01 - Nov 4 by vapour_trail | It mixes bubbles so I get the logic. But: So will opening pubs for collections. We’re doing that. But not opening gyms where transmission is negligible. we’re not doing that. So is opening non essential shops like wilkos. We’re doing that. Not a lockdown, not a strategy. A shambles. |
How are pubs opening to sell takeaway beer mixing bubbles ? Pubs sold takeaway beer from March without problem, you have to ring up or book online and are given a timed slot to pick it up,you arent allowed to queue, loiter, stand around chatting to anyone you know or even go in the pub,its alot less risky than going to a supermarket and it keeps local pubs & small breweries solvent just about. And any restriction on that practice in lockdown 2 would have been the real uturn because it was fully supported & allowed by government in lockdown 1.

You’re getting your exercise in. That’s good. Point is the kids came back from a summer lockdown overweight and unfit. It’s going to be a lot worse over winter, regardless of you playing 5 a side. If it’s a long one, the schools should be mandated to do more physical stuff.

or maybe the responsibility should be with the parents to get kids active? you know, considering they had them children in the first place, seems a little unfair to put it all on the schools. PE is massively important, but its not the only place they get exercise from

Pubs now allowed to sell takeaway beer in lockdown on 08:27 - Nov 5 by itfcjoe | I guess if they are open they need more trade than those passing on essential journeys. But this lockdown going to be totally different, and pointless - in the first one the roads were dead for weeks, that won't be the case on this one |
I assume it's classed as food shopping. Probably strictly to be taken home but I can't imagine many not parking up and eating just to stay out of the house for a few hours.

In our school, PE seems to have become a rare luxury that gets cancelled easily for plenty of different reasons. That's just another reason why cancellling organised sport for kids is unhelpful and damaging. Even if they could just say more than 2 kids can excercise together in a park would be fine.

Of course the responsibility should be with parents. But given that will not happen in many households, and we will end up with many more overweight and unhealthy kids as a result, then there should be some plan to mitigate.

Plus anyone with a teenager will already know what response they'd get if they woke the kid up at 5am and suggested going out for a run.
