Weird how London's per 100,000 number is so much lower than other cities. Anyone read anything about why that might be?

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Higher levels of immunity in London because much more people there got it first time around

Not sure that really stands up to scrutiny though.

At best it was 17% of the population, at worst about 6%. Couple that with the fact the antibodies might not have lasted 6 months and it doesn't seem like the reason.

Perhaps people have been distancing better over the summer and in general but that is also hard to prove.

Whilst seeming busy compared to many places, london has been like a ghost town since March relative to a normal year.

In a normal year London would see around 30 million tourists, and is geared up to delal with that additional volume of people.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I still think sport is one of the main reasons why London got hit so hard last time.

Think how many supporters go through London just to get to games. Then add theatres etc ontop.

Rather more people work in London than go through it to go to sporting fixtures.

Although I read a recent study that T Cell response continues more than six months of infection. So although T Cells can’t give immunity as antibodies do, the body keeps a copy on file of the virus and triggers your immune system to respond quickly if it shows up again.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

The number of cases still isn't "low" though. Many other areas of the UK have had lower than that and were forced into lockdown.

Wouldn't bringing London out of lockdown early prove what the people up north were saying that London is treated differently?

I am not much enjoying the lockdown but if the cases and R are falling now then they will continue to fall the longer the lockdown is on. Coming out too early would seem to waste the effort of lockdown in the first place.

See also wales. The number is still high (not quite as high as it was) but the reason given for coming out if lockdown is that they ‘said they would.....and ppl won’t trust politicians if they don’t’.
