TEAM: Jackson up top. Judge and McGavin back in. Dobra starts again. on 14:40 - Dec 5 with 366 views | clive_baker | Think it's a fair line up to be honest. The back 5 looked solid on Tuesday, with Cornell and McGuinness being our best players. I think it's our strongest back 4. McGavin for Dozzell was enforced and obvious. Nolan was poor Tuesday but has to start really, especially in the absence of anyone else. Judge was our best player last weekend, I suspect the only reason he was left out Tuesday was a fitness thing. I would much rather see him start centrally though, with Lankester in the wide areas, I don't see why we persist with Judge wide and JL centrally. Dobra put himself about in the week, he deserves a 2nd start. Jackson looks enforced given Drinan isn't on the bench, will be interesting to see what he can do with a start.

Very true. Who on that bench should be starting? Hard to make a case for any of them really, maybe Hawkins for Jackson at a push, but I'm not averse to Jackson starting at all. He's got the pace to trouble Plymouth.

Yep, for all the injury issues, and talk of playing kids, it is only really McGavin and Dobra in there that I'd call rookies. The back 4 is prob the first choice apart from KVY. Midfield is a bit stretched, but includes Nolan who in theory is solid at this level (even if I think he is pants), McGavin who has impressed given the opportunity, and Lankester who first got into the team a few years ago now. Jackson was top scorer last year and had championship interest in the Summer, Judge was one of Lambert's big signings (and prob a high earner) and Dobra is obviously a bit of a wildcard for now. It isn't perfect, and we would be better with some of the injured players returning, but that 11 really ought to be good enough at this level.

Agree with that completely. Ideally Norwood, Edwards, Bishop, KVY, Downes, Dozzell would walk into this XI but they're not available. The litmus test really is of the subs, who should be starting and I would argue none of them. I do think JL and AD should be in the wide roles though. Judge isn't effective out there, Lankester hasn't done much centrally and I fear Dobra might get a little bullied in there. [Post edited 5 Dec 2020 14:53]
