It is a shame to see the thoughts and prayers vaccine doing so poorly and the Vatican having to admit it.

I think they had to clarify this.

In Ireland, for example, older people who are quite religious, particularly from rural areas, have been exposed to the anti vax loons who have been beating on about the ingredients of the vaccine in order to stop older people taking it. Ironically, some of those anti vax loons claim to be devout themselves.

And other religions are unsure whether to take the vaccine due to possible pork gelatine traces.

The Catholic Clergy have been quite sensible during Covid. I attended a funeral of young girl where only the family were in the church ( the rest outside ) and we had to offer our condolences by waving as we filed past the family. Also all church ceremonies are now done via webcam.

If there is any truth in that you can add Vegans to the anti vaxa list.

I’ve committed Judge Meenan’s observations on Doherty and Waters’s submissions to the High Court to memory :-

“Unsubstantiated opinions, speeches, empty rhetoric and a bogus historical parallel are not a substitute for facts”.

Interesting article. I never knew it was used in some vaccines as a stabiliser. The manufacturers of the COVID vaccines have said that none is present.

I hadn’t thought of the vegan aspect!!

All p*ss taking aside (and I do agree with your sentiments), this is undoubtedly a good thing as it should remove a pretty big barrier for a large number of people to get the vaccine

It was quite a big thing for muslims when we became able to synthesise insulin on masse as previously it was porcine insulin that tended to be the go-to of choice a few years ago.
