When Boris is kicked out on 00:21 - Jan 7 with 903 views | Churchman | Oh we have our share of mindless morons but I doubt anything quite like that will happen. We’ve had plenty of terrorist acts and less than peaceful demos over the years and the police here don’t muck about.
When Boris is kicked out on 00:55 - Jan 7 with 857 views | ArnoldMoorhen | The difference is that the policing of demos in Westminster is a little more robust and the Houses of Parliament have sadly been the focus of terrorist attacks over several years so the "street furniture" is designed with this in mind. "Kettling" the first 300 or so who made it onto the steps today would have been very effective. CNN were reporting that the Capitol Police Force knew they were overrun so made the strategic decision to focus on evacuating politicians and staff, or leading them to more secure areas.

Think OP was referring to next election but I doubt if Boris will be around for that; but then very few thought Trump would last long. With regards lack of police at The Capitol wasn’t that long ago when a BLM protest was met by hundreds of riot. police on the steps of the building. Only in America......

Indeed. These are the scenes after Johnson won the 2019 general election. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/protest-downing-street-boris-johnson-ge A complete contrast with how the police acted in Washington. In fact they even opened the gates for the protesters and walked away. Whoever made that decision is complicit in the loss of life. If that happened in the UK the there would be an enquiry and disciplinary action. [Post edited 7 Jan 2021 7:21]
