Vaccination rollout bottleneck 15:07 - Jan 7 with 1263 viewshype313

Apparently there is a bottleneck as people are turning up without NHS number, now I don't have mine, or don't know it, but don't really want to bother the local surgery, anyone know if we can find it on other documents we may have?

If you've ever had a hospital appointment letter, it'll be there.
Also, if you're registered with a GP, they should already have it. You might need some form of ID to prove who you are but you shouldn't need to know your NHS number to get access to a vaccine.

Apparently it's on prescriptions if you have a copy.

Unless you have a letter or prescription from the NHS lying around, then unfortunately I think your GP is the one to contact.

I'd say to anyone that it's worth signing up to your GP's online service.

They seem to prefer it and you can access parts of your own records there at will without bothering anyone.

You can find it by signing up to the NHS app as well and going through the surprisingly easy process to confirm your identity.

I'm due my vaccine soon as a NHS frontline worker and was asked to have my number to take to the vaccination appointment.

Looks like you’ve found your answer but I had to ring my (now old) GP’s recently for it when I moved and was registering with another practice. Didn’t seem to be a bother though, took the receptionist approx 15 seconds to pull up my record and read it out

EDIT: and would add that ringing them was what the new practice told me to do, so I’m guessing that’s seen as the standard way and not too much of a bother!

Are you able to book appointments etc online for your surgery? If so, your 'home page' should have your NHS number. It should also be on any correspondence from surgeries, clinics, hospitals etc.

There's no way to find it online, so contacting your surgery is the only route

If you call 111 they can tell you - I worked there a few years back and it’s on their system.

Seems to me that the obvious thing if for all vaccination appointments to be confirmed in writing, or by email containing full details including NHs number. Bring/show this confirmation to / at your appointment.
